Another Kind of Crook.
They tell of an Owen Sound man
who kept his wife in bed a full month
after she was able to be up In order
that kind hearted neighbors might
continue to send in good things to
eat. This one ungrateful and un-
scurpulous man does an injury to all
who are in need of aid.
A Filthy Pest.
One night last week eerie, filthy
creature tried to see how dirty he
really could be. He went up the
east side of Main street from the
Corner Store to the Town Hall cor-
ner squirting tobacco juice on miar-
ly every plate glass window, The
juice was frozen by morning and the
merchants had some difficulty in get-
ting thedirt off their windows. It in
a shame that any one would defile
the natural saliva with such rank
juice and use it for such a
foul purpose. But what's the use
of our using caustic language to-
wards one who has 710 sense of
shame. There's a verse in the Book
of Revelation that fittingly refers to.
such dirty squirters; "Let him that
is filthy be filthy still."—Chesley

A judgment of much interest to
municipalities was given in the Bar-

lice Magietrate Jen in finding a re-
presentative of the Ocean Blend Tea
Company guilty of peddling without
a license. For the defense it was
contended that the blending of the
tea constituted manufacture within
the meaning of the act, The Magis-
trate found that the defendaetts had
failed to prove that tea is an article
manufactured or produced in On-
tario, as required by the statute gov-
erning lawyeis.

Did Not Wile
The Listowel Standard of last week
in referring to the municipal contest
in that town, makes the following
comment on . one of the candidates,
who is well known to many in town,
as his -wife. Was formerly Mi.ss Vern
Walker, of Brussels: For several
years the electors have been urging
Young men to run for office. J. A.
Schinbein is a young man and a
prominent merchant and was sup-
ported by the C. of C., but was among
the defeated. It was his first con-
test and the race was hard to win,
nevertheless the verdict is not very
encouraging to the younger men.
The Publiaher's Problem.
In spite of the 20,000 circulatior,
the Fannon' Sun, the organ of the
United 'Farmers of Ontario, which
has been reapplied to Sun readers tri-
weekly at $2.00 a year, comes out
again with a deficit of $5,000, It's
not a profitable business supplying a
newspaper at less than cost as our
farmer friends are evidently findieg
out. This is what many newspapers
in Ontario have been doeig for florne
years, with the inevitable result that
they have gone out of business and
this is what will happen to The Sun
unless bolstered up by the good dol-
lars of its political patrons,
