The funeral of Mos. Geo. Spotten of
Wingham, was held to Fairview
Cemetery, Rev, 3. al, Nicol having
charge of the service. Mra. Spotten,
daughter of John- Glenn, resided in
Listowel for a number of years.
Saturday morning 3. Sangster'° car
which was stolen between 11 and 12
Friday night, was found on the aide of
the road near Gowanstown. It had
no wheele, windshield or tools left,

news that an old and well known resi-
dent of this locality, in the person of
James Maker, was found dead in his
garden on the 10th inst., came as a
surprise, He had not heen rugged for
years and ae he was 76 years of age
the vital organs seemed unable to
function, The funerai took place to
Elms Centre cemetery on Thanksgiv-
ing Day. Mrs. Maker predeceased
her husband by several years. A
daughter, who kept hoose for her
father, survives. Deceased was an
hottest, somewhat easy going man, in-
nofensive and desirous of doing right.

ago affecting her right side, was the
cause of her demise, She had au
attack of flu last February and under-
went an operation for goitre on April
20th, hence Was not as rugged as in
former years. Deceased was a daugh-
ter of the late ltobert Craig, a well
known Morrisite, and was married to
her now bel'eft partner 28 years ago
and they had resided on present
homestead foe past 30 years. 3 child-
ren were born to the home, 2 of whole

evening, elargatet., youngest. daughter
of Rev, Mr, Armstrong, of the Methu-
dist Church, was knocked down by an
auto and one of her hips fractured,
Medical assistance was called and the
fracture set and the child is reported
to be reefing easily. It is stated that
the little girl saw the auto, but
thought she could get across in front
of it.

old Glennan, daughter of ex -Mayor
and Mee, Geo, Spotton. found her
mother dead on the couch. At first
the little girl thought she was asleep
and made an effort to rouse her, but
getting no response ran to a neigh -
bore for help, which was at once giv-
en, and a doctor called, who pro-
nounced life extinct. Death had evi-
dently followed a sudden attack of
heart -failure, foe Mrs. Spotton was
down Lown apparently in her usual
health at 4.30 p. m. ex -Mayor Spot -
ton, who was in Toronto, was im-
mediately notified, The deceased
lady was the daughter of John Glen
of Listowel, in -which town she was
born, coming to reside in Wingham
about 17 years ago. She is anrvived
by her husband, one daughter and her
father.

was delightful, the contests lively and

couraging of a school spirit and giving
