Unless some such system is adopted, it Is to be feared that the imports of United mach leery to this market :•iii become cen- tintiailv From War To Peace. The transition of industrial works front a war to a peace basis is being effected gradually and with varying results. Foundries and machine shops, in some instances appear to have dif- ficulty in securing sufficient business to occupy their capacity since the Armistice. Many works were enlarged to cope with the demand for munit- ions and the increased capacity has not always been utilized partly on account of labor troubles, dull market conditions in certain tines and the sale of second-hand machinery previously used in munition shops. Labor troubles market conditions, and the organizat- ion necessary for the establishment of export trade have reared manufactur- ing progress of industrial firms. On the whole however few adverse effects were apparent during the year as a result of post war Conditions. A note of the actual position o1 a few typical industries in Ontario, which devoted their energies to war work will be of interest (a) Firm of founders crane makers and ,inechinistsi—Sufticeent business has not been obtained to occupy full capacity. A review of the year which has elapsed since the signing of the armistice suggests that economic, lindustriai and; commercial condi- tions are sound and that given more stable political and social con- ditions throughout the world than those obtaining at the beginning of 4430, the Dominion should achieve a degree of development far sur- passing that achieved hitherto, de- clares F. As a market for British manufactures Ontario presents an attractive field, more especially in the lines in which United Kingdom manufacturers have excelled for so long, The development of Canadian manufacturing, of which such a large proportion is carried on in Ontario, leads one to the conclusion that the greater part of British trade in this market will in future years be con - Dancing and Music The emotion -n.1 side of the major- ity of people cannot be satisfied by Free Libraries, Gymnasiums, Play- graunele, etc. The love of moving the heaeithy.body to the rhythm Of music in some foram 01 dancing is an in- born Decullsaet, of the average man and woman; with liquor and indec- ent music, however, dames may do fined to the principal groups of manu- more harm than bacteria.
