R. H. GOVENLOO10 DECEASED,—The
death occurred at Guelph after sever-
al months illness, of Robert H, Goven-
lock, second eon of the late Andrew
Govenlock, of Winthrop. He was a
native of McKillop township where he
resided until a few years ago when he
moved with his sisters to Seaforth.
He was for many years an Elder in
Oeven church, Winthrop. He was a
pian of alerting qualities and enjoyed
the t. 'o
nfidenee and esteem of all who
knew him. He is eurvived by one
brother, 3, 141, Govenlock, Seaforth,
and 4 sisters, The funeral took place
from the residence of his brother, J.
M. Govenlock, Seaforth, to the Mait-
land Bank Cemetery.

CONSOLIDATED SCHOOLS,—On Weti.
nesday, June 80th, a public meeting
was held in the Township Hall, under
the auspices of the Women's Institute.
The object of the gathering was to
discuss Consolidated Schools. An in-
structive and iureresting address was
delivered by Dr. Sinclair, of Toronto,
which favorably impressed the audi-
ence. Meeting decided to ask the'
Government for a survey in each sec-
tion to ascertain if Consolidation
would be possible.

Mrs. J. D. Forsyth (Lyda McCal-
lum) of Minioto, Man,, and her child-
ren, Harold and Lorna, are visiting at
the former's mother's, 4th Oon, Grey,
for a few weeks. It is 6 years since
she and her husband and little boy
were here before. Mrs, Forsyth says
the crops look splendid in the West so
far, if they only get harvested it will
be a grand crop. Mr. Forsythe is in
business in Miniota. The many
friends of Mrs, Forsyth will bo glad to
welcome her again as she spent so
many years of her life around Ethel,
She has gone to Stratford, Seaforth
and Simeoe to visit friends this week.
A fine time was enjoyed et the
Union Church Garden Party Wednes-
day evening of last week. Program
was excellent, consisting of a well
pointed address on Cousolidated
Schools by Rev. Mr, McDonald, At-
wood ; choice musical numbers by the
Martin Henry 0o, ; solos by Miss
Verne Walker, Brussels ; readings by
Mies Puteell, Listowel, &c. Rev. Mr,
OKell presided, Good supper was
served in the basement of the church,
Receipts of the evening were $280,00,
which will be applied to Sunday
School purposes after expenses.
Grounds were brilliantly lighted by
the Fairbank-Morse Lighting System.
There was a great crowd attended.

o'clock, for important bueiness. All
officers and workers requested to be

'rhe outing oti Dominion Day to Bay-
field, by Melville Endeavor, was much
enjoyed by all.
Rev, Mr. Stafford spoke Sunday
morning on "Canada" and in the even-
ing on "Christian Courage."
During July and August Melville Sab-
bath School will meet at ro,15 a. m, in-
stead of 3 p. m., each Sunday and a
good attendance is urged.
Last Sabbath morning Rev. Mr.
Mann dwelt on "Tile New Birth" and in
the evening the subject was "Water—
the emblem of the Holy Spirit."
A well rend.red Missionary program
was put on by the men last Sunday
afternoon at the Methodist Sabbath
Sohool. Missionary offering $$.25 on
an objective of $75 0o per year,
Next Sunday morning, at t1 o'clock,
the Orange brethren of No, 774, Brus-
sels, will attend service in St. Tobn's
church, when Rev, Bro. Mess will

church, Ottawa, of which he is now
pastor, says:—"DeWitt is enjoying a
month's holidays in this locality. We
have en exoeptnoually fine parsonage
here and found everything in excellent
shape. We expect to return with De-
Witt' the end of July and will spend
August in Western Ontario." The writ-
er was a former well remembered pastor

son, DeWitt, was the white heeded boy
