ELECTRIC WASH DAY ON THE FARM
Washday on the farm has always
been one of the 11avdest for the farm
Wife, Then, if ever, 8115 1)11.5 more
thine to do than even her willing and
able hands 01(11 1aCCOmplial] 1n a single
day. So on that day she wants and
needs every bit of assistance she can
have,
In the old days when every bit of
water had to be pumped by hand,
when ]ours had to be spent bending
i
n6
over the tub,—rubbing, robbing, rob-
bing,
nhb•
bin , when the holing had to be done
with tlhe ohl-fashioned Boat iron that
needed a red hot stove even in mid -
Summer, washday meant the worst
sort of drudgery for the farm wife.
But within the last few years modern
home improvements lave made this
sort of hang uuuecessary. A;nete
washday has dawned for farm
women,
Electricity, which has definitely es-
tablished itself at/ the host and most
efficient of telt our modern servants,
has come to the aid of farm women as
$47,810 ; business assessment $59,845, well as their pity sislore, Over one
hundred thousand farm homes now
enjoy the benefits of electric service
supplied by independent electric light
and pewee plants. Lights of course
are the first tiling thought of and the
first thing installed, And, 0f comae,
it is a mighty Cine thing for the farm
home to have the same bright, safe
electric light that has been enjoyed in
the -oily for some time, but that's a

little electric punt
With light the l
has brought power ton, and perhaps
its most valuable use i8 found on
washday. In the fleet place the elec-
tric pumping system draws water
from the Well or cistern, put 1(1 under
pr5senre 111 e tank, and so delivers it
at faucets in the kitchen. And a heat-
er delivers it hot, too, Then a little
electric motor turns the waehiltg
machine and wringer, And an elec-
tric iron, always et the right tempera-
ture, does the ironing guiekly and
well. There's still work on washday,
but It's intteh easier. The drudgery is
gone,
