EAST LYNNE WELL PRESENTED, —
Wednesday evening of last week
the young people of the Methodist
church presented the play "East
Lynne" in the 0. 0. F. Hall. While
the building was not packed to its ut-
most capacity it was comfortably
filled by a crowd of interested listen -
ere. The stage was beantifully decor-
ated, thereby lending grace and dig-
nity to the play ; pat'ticularly atteac-
tive and natural -like were the grove
scenes, Of the players Lhemeelves we
feel that IL is impossible to commend
them too highly. Not only was every
individual pate, wen staged but each
participant seemed to be peculiarly
titled to his and her particular
role. Another very noticeable

feature was the cloak -like precision
with which the whole proceedings
were conducted.
It would bei s-

sible to eingle out any one individual
for special mention or praise, each in
his and her sphere was all that could
be desired. Of oouree some of the
scenes lent themselves to more dram-
atic effect (ban did others, as for in-
stance Archibald's deep grief at the
discovery of Ieabel's elopement and
Tater the death bed scenes of Little
William and Madam Vine (Isabel,)
That the play was a signal success is
proven by the fact that the following
day Rev. Davison received a message
from Wingham asking that it be stag-
ed there in the near aflame. Special
mention should be made of Mrs, A.
Walker, Miss Madeline Walker, and
Miss Abel (all of Wingham) who fur-
nished vocal and instrumental num-
bet's between the acts, Their services
were much appreciated. Proceeds for
the evening were approximately
$90,00.
