'IIE VOTERS' LISTS OF '
ONTARIO ARE DOUBLED
Official Figures Show an Amazing In-
crease in the Vote
(Toronto Star.)
Tremendous curiosity has been a-
roused as to the result of the work
of the enumerators in view of the ap-
proaching Provincial general election,
which is to take place on Oc-
tober 20th. Politicians in particular
have been very curious to know to what
extent the enfranchisement of women
and of soldiers under age would swell
the number of voters. The Star now
is in a position to satisfy this curiosity,
The official lists, after most of the ap-
peals have been heard in the 111 rid-
ings, show that the maximum vote in
Toronto has mire than trebled and that
for the whole Province has more than
doubled. The list Was made up fur
the temperance referendum but also
will he used in the general election,
Here is a comparison of the num-
ber of voters on the lists for the two
elections in the Toronto ridings, ex-
cluding the city portions of the Yorks:
191,4 85,592
1919 281,300
The figures for the entire Province
work out thus:
1914 (roughly 750,000
1919 1,611,759
The figures for the various ridings

Are you In favour of the sale of spirituous and malt
liquors through Government agencies and amend, nenta to
The Ontario Temperance Act to permit such sale?
Above is an exact reproduction of the
Referendum ballot, showing the correct way
to Vote in order to sustain the Ontario Tem-
perance Act as it stands.
Everybody should study the four questions and
realize exactly what they mean. Do not be misled by
the insidious demand for "light" beer.
The beer of the ballot .1.39118% stronger than the
Ontario Temperance Act now allows, and over five
times as strong as the limit allowed for beer defined as
non -intoxicating in Great Britain and the United States.
Answer Each Question
1. Unless you vote on every question your ballot
is spoiled.
2. You must mark your answer to each ques-
fion with an "X" only. Anything else would
spoil your ballot.
3. Unless a majority vote "No" on question 1
the bars will be restored and the sale of all kinds of intoxicants permitted.
4. Unless a majority vote "No" on questions 2, 3 and 4 the Ontario Tem.
perance Act will become almost worthless.
S. The only SATS course is to mark your ballot as shown above.
