D. C. Ross has moved this week from
his old stand, Garfield block, to the
double store in the McKelvey block, im.
mediately South of tbe American Hotel.
It was a big job but well executed by the
willing staff Mr. Ross had on. See

BOWLING, -A rink of lawn bowlers of
town, consisting of D. B. McDonald,
Vernon Ross, R F. Doming and D. C.
Ross, went to Stratford to a tournament.
They won 3 games and lost one. Thurs-
day of last week R. F. Downing, D, C.
Ross, D. B, McDonald and Dr. White
took a hand in the doubles at Seaforth.
CARD OF THANKS. -We wish to record
our thanks to the many kind friends
who were so good to us during the ill-
ness and subsequent demise of the late
Mrs. Denman. Their kindly deeds,
sympathetic words and beautiful flowers
were appreciated beyond expresston by

DIED IN DETRoir.-Wednesday of this
week Mrs. Kuntz, mother of Mrs. G. C.
Manners, Brussele, died at De-
troit, aged 82 years. The fuueral will
take place at St Marys. Out., on Friday.
Mr. and Mrs, Manners bave gone to the
latter town to arrange for the interment.
Deceased bad been in decliniug health
far the past few years owiug to her ad-
vanced age, She was a fine old lady
and had visited here on different occa-
sions.
FELL DOWN. -A good share of the
brick veneer on the front of the building
adjoining the postoffice, atter being in a
dangerous shape for months, fell with a
crash, Fortunately nobody was on the
walk when it came down. The building
stands ou the site of the proposed new
post office and is owned by the Domin-
ion; Gevernmerth Attention was called
to the danger of collapse by the authori-
ties but with the usual delay nothing
Was done. It is hoped the Government
will take action regarding building of
the new block for which the money was
voted several years ago. The debris of
brick, mortar, &c„ was removed and the
walk is once more clear,
HAROLD GERRY PASSIM AwAv.-After a
heroic battle for life Harold, youngest
son of N. P. and Mrs, Gerry, King
street, paid Nature's debt last Monday
evening, at the early age of rg years, 5
months and 29 days. He underwent an
operation over a year ago but despite the
best that could be done for hint by good
care he went down. Harold had out-
grown his strength. He bad many
friends, who deeply regret his decease.
For some thee he clerked is the store of
Gerry & Walker after leaving school.
The funeral service will be conducted
in the Methodist church Thursday after-
noon at 2 p. m. and interment will take
place in Brussels cemetery. Communi-
ty sympathise deeply with the family
as this is the second son they have
been nailed to part with, Frank having
died doing his duty as a soldier in
Prance a year ago, In addition Bert,
Gerry, brother to N. P. and W. P,
• Stewart, Mrs, Gerry's father, have also
riled during the past few yestra.

Myrtle Carter has been enjoying a well

Mrs. Frank Stretton and her eister, Mrs.
Pringle spent the week in Toronto. -
Mrs, Fletcher Sperling was bolidayiug
at London with her son and his good
lady for a week. -Miss Ella Inman and
Miss Mary Ross were attending the Mil
linery openings at Toronto. -Mies Elsie.

pursue a course at Guelph Hospital for
a uurse. She will make a good oue, we
believe, and we wish her success in the
profession of her choice. -James Fox,
druggist, is back from an extended trip
to the West for the past five weeks. He
visited Winnipeg, Calgary, Regina, Ed-
monton and other points and met many
old friends who gave him a good time.
His sons, Stewart and Alex. took charge
of the store during his absence and made
a good job of it. -Mrs. EL A. Sabine,
London. is a guest of Mrs. Frank Strei-
ton, at Killarney Heights, The ladies
are cousins. -Miss Stella Gerry of the
Standard Bank staff and Miss Gertrude
Shaw were enjoying a holiday a' Han-
over and Guelph. -Miss fulla Bartliff,
Clinton, formerly of Brussels, left this
Week for St. Joseph's Hospital, London,
where she enters on a course of training
as nurse. We believe she will make a
good one and wish her success. Her
sister, Miss Annice graduated few years

Rev. Dr, Hazen's vacation and took ad.
vantage of the occasion to call on old
parishioners, He's as genial as ever -

Deotnan is on the poorly list we are
sorry to here. Het heart is bothering
her but we hope for speedy improve-

Fort William, owing to the demise of
their grandson, Harold Gerry.- Mrs,
Robert Greer, Detroit, has been a visi-
tor with her sister, Mrs. G. C. Manuers

trip through sections of Western Canada
and the Western States, for the past 3
months. They spent considerable time
in Chicago. Thev had a good outing
