Rev. George F. Salton, Ph. D., of
Winnipeg, a former pastor of the
Methodist church here, has recently
been bereft of two nephews killed in ac-
tion, Lieut, Ralph Gordon, of Victoria,
B. C., was killed whilst flying iu France
and Lieut. William Salton, of Ottawa,
met death whilst flying in Italy.

STEALING SENTENCED FOR S NG CATTLE.—

Goderich, last week, before His Honor
Judge Dickson, William Broclhagan, of
the township of Logan, pleaded guilty
to 3 charges of stealing cattle. In one
case he stole 4 head of cattle from a
farmer , drove them 9 miles to his own
place, afterward selling them to
aldrover, using the money as part
payment on an automobile. It was 0
weeks before the owner found out what
bad happened to his cattle and recover-
ed them, 2 head of cattle belonging to
another farmer were takeu at the same

1916. 1. M. Best, Seaforth, who ap-
peared for Brodhagau, put in .1 strong
plea for lenieucy, His Honor seutenced

brated the 50th anniversary of their

Mr, Menzies was burn 77 years ago in
Aberfeldy, Perthshire, Scotland, and
