Defeats Bognor by
Close Score 2-1
The local football team hurdled
another jump in their hunt for the
W. F, A. football title. The fast
Bognor team winners of the title
last year gave the local team all
they cou1d handle. Brussels win-
ning by the close score of 2-1. We
must give the boys credit for the
close score as they were outlucked
on ntmtreons occasions the first
period. ;
Bognor started off with 11, John-
son and P, Traynor made some
rushes on C. Riley whose spec-
tacular goal keeping held them off
till Brussels got properly organized..
L. Russel missed numerous chances
to score when his shots were either
wide or high of the post. L. Steiss
was away to a good start but kicked
ball over the post. The locals were
trying hard but they just did not
not 'get the breaks, they should have .
h'td about three goals' in the first
period. Then all at once the locals
seemed to get disorganized and
Bognor pepped up considerably and
were more fortunate than the locals
when in a scramble :AI, Johnson of
Bognor scored, From then on
Bognor had the edge of the play,
the local boys seemed discouraged
after the brilliant playing in the
first part of the period, The first
period ended

Brussels Nil
The Bognor team cane right
bade again with Shute, M. Johnston
and le, Traynor bearing right in
with Riley staying the attacles off in
his usual spectacular style. The
locale• had a hard time holding them
off till they got organized. Brussels
efforts' were finally awarded when
David Miller scored the first goal
of the game playing in Carmen
Baker's position, Baker was unable
to come, having to play for
elle WesternUniversity which was
another set back to the locals.
Bill King, Jack Bryams and R. Fox
played a good game checking the
forwards and feeding the Brussels
forwards nicely. A mix up oc-
curred when Bognor player who was
outside line beside the Brussels goal
kicked the ball back ie piny
Federee Fiseher tossed the ball tip
and a Bognor player touched the
ball err the penalty area giving
Brussels' a penalty shot. The spec-
tators weer wondering who was
going to do the honors and Captain
Harry Bowler called on C. Rileg
who scored, the final goal of the
game past E. Thomson who played
a great game in goal for the visi-
tors. All the boys tried ,hard to
pile up the score to take a bigger
lead with them to Bognor this
Thurssay afternoon. Some of the
iw.ns do not think that a goal lead
is enough as Bognor is hard team to
beat,
