Raising Freak Calf
Becomes Big Problem
Eight -Week Heifer on Farm Near
Mt, Pleasant Has no Front
Legs
Mitchell, April 9
Despite, reports to the contrary
Victor G_lnney, a farmer alcor
Mount Pleasant, has received 110
offers for the freak two -legged
Durham heifer calf born on his
farm eight weeixs ago, Mr, Grinney
states' that no one has, approached
him as yet to buy the freak for ex-
hibition purposes, and raising of
the calf is• becoming something of a
problem.
Normal la every other respect ex-
wept that it has no fore legs,
"Nellie" is now getting to be quite
a size and many peop:e have vis-
ited the Grinney farm, Net south
of Mount Pleasant to see her.
Until a short time ago the calf
took all her nourishment while Lyng
down, but recently Mr, Grinney rig
ged up a suspension harness for her
by which the front part of her body
can be supported while she is hav-
ing her meals. Nellie likes ,tee
arrangement so well she refuses. to
ea: now unless she can stand up to
do the job.
Except when site is eating Nellie
lies in her stall, althouget at times
she site down, resting the front
part of her body on her chin. If
she decides to move from one part
of the stall to another she pushes
herseif along on her chin, Mr,
Grinney does• neeknow exactly what
to do with the freak, but for tate
time being at least he is going to
keep it, he says,
IN MEMORIAM

No earthly friend like her we'll find
For all of us' she done her best,
And God gave her Eternal Rest,
