The regular meeting of the Wo-
men'e Association of ,the United
Church was held at the home of
Mists, Margaret Rabinson, Tuesday
evening, February 15, at eight
o'clock with an attendance of 26.
The .president 'preeldled and the
meeting opened' by repeating Psalm
23, followed by prayer by Miss' Rob-
inson. Blest be the tie that binds
was tlhen sung. The minutes were
read and adopted. After a short
business period the program ooin-
mLttee, Mrs. Bryane', Mrs, Currie
and Mrs. Lowe took charge and the
evening was apenit in contests and
games and a defightdul Valentine
lunch was served.

The Brussels Girls' team won a
21 victory over their opponents, the
Teesm'tater Girls, in the local arena

attended and witnessed a good game

$35,000 On School
Buildings
The Sea•forth, Town Council has
approved of en expenditure et $30,-
000 by the -Collegiate Institute
Board for the erection and equip-
ment of an addtiticn bo tbe school
building for classes in household
economics' and mamma training. A
vote of $5,000 or alterations and

Fire Checked
One night recentll- a chimney fire
in Backer Block was noticed in time
to prevent a serious' blaze. The
occupants of the apartment over
Bueker Bros•., butcher sloop smelled
smoke and upon investdvation a
chimney was; found to be on fire,
An extra hole had been cut and
fare was coating out of it, Prompt
action checked the fire before it
gained too great a headway and no
sanious damage resulted -

Word has, beau received here that,
Mrs, C. M. Wilmot, mother of 'Mr:
F, M, Wilutat, former manager of
Bank of Nova Scotia here, passed
away in Sutton West, February 15.
The body being taken east to Glen-
garry County for burial.

The passing of Alfred Vance on
