Taking pictures at night around the camp fire is a lot of fun and the results pleasing and out of the ordi- nary. Since the introduction of the Photoflash lamp there hes h'•en a Oremendous interest in camp -fire pic- tures for this lamp is so simple to +operate. The Photoflash lamp is aim- ilar in appearance to a common elec• trio bulb and can be screwed into a special holder resembling an ordi- nary hand flash -light tube. These holders are very inexpensive and San be purchased at altenst any store selling photographic supplies. The flash is set off by pressing the flash button and it gives an intense tight without any noise or smoke. This to how You take a tamp•flre picture. The people should be grouped as close to the fire as com- fort wil permit. The arrangement of the group can be viewed in the finder of the camera by having some. bne hold a peeket tiaeh•light or fire- brand at eaeb side of the scene. This evil indicate lust what and who are lnoluded In the picture. e And let me warn you --be sure yet have everybody in full view in you finder. Otherwise you may find the decapitated body of a dear frfett.' appearing in the finished print. It Is well not to have the are to, bright, nor yet allow it to cite dowi to embers when the picture le made With the camera resting on -a tr. pod or firm support, set it at stop 7i or US. 4, open the shutter, and sel off the flash buil) and then be sure tc close the shutter immediately. When using the Photoflash bulb hold it to one side of the camera, and slightly behind It. The latter position pre- vents possibility of lens flare from the flash. Here's one simple precau- tion:—see that the camera is placed where possible smoke from the fire may not be blown towards the lens or between it and the subjects. Remember too It is not necessary to own au expensive camera to take campfire pictures at night. You can take such pictures—and good ones— with a box camera by using the larg- est etop. So 1f you aro pleuning on an Out. door p0.rty at night over this week' end, or a canning trip, be sure to be prepared to take some fascinating Photoflash picturoe, Here's wishing you e, lot of fun and good pie+urea.
