Fees for eXasninations of pupils in otic' 501015 have been abolished, The AmeSement Tax has been lifted. The Government at the last session assumed the total of Mothers' Allowance and 01d .Age Pensions, and extended s of he M Allowance to widows with one ch11d•.In itself, cstthe Provinceamillion •,- dollars,• . • Two years ago the municipal income tax (winch was only op- tional) was abolished and a Provincial Income Taxoubstitute for it, thus bringing into our treasury many From these funds a direct subsidy of one mill on_ the local assessment was given t0 every municipality, This moans dist every tax -bill in the future will be reduced by one dollar for each thousand dollars of as- sessment. The latest saving, which benefits all Motorists, is a fiat 55 :'e- duction in automobile license fees, License fees for the commercial vehicles were reduced by 25% last spring. „t Later f. roPose to gl"v4 )i ii Mires indicating the &tuella sav- ed ,a. This will be quite apparent to every taxpayer when his Mx bill is Pre- sented to him — both in the county rate and the local municipal rate. I would like to say further that in spite of all this generosity to the local taxpayer, the government has been able to balance its budget and show -a handsome surplus besides, even after charging all relief expenditures to current expense. This record has never been equalled, or even approached, by any other Canadian Government. Mr. Hepburn has kept all his promises and infinitely more doe to economical administration and a determination to keep faith with the electorate of this province.
