Ether Passes Away :— The Iilyth Standard refers to the death of the father of James Ballantyne, 9th con.:—In the passing of Thos. }lallantyne at the hone of his son• in-law, Mr. James Davis, early on Sunday morning, is removed Bltrth's oldest citizen, For many - months his condition had been pre- carious but through the loving care and undivided attention of his daughter he continued to linger, hitt owing to his advanced years, the: prolonged illness eventually sapped his strength and he peaceful- ly passed away. Mr, Thos. HelIen- type was barn in Galashiels, Scot- land, ninety-six years ago, and when a young man was apprentic- ed to the Woolen mill trade. He was married to Elizabeth Hislop about the year 1863 and within an hour after the ceremony, he and his ;bride Hailed for Canada, first taking up their residence in Strathroy. Short- ly afterwards they roved to Wrox- eter where a family of eight child- ren were born. Here he remained until coming to Blyth, forty-two years ago and he was employed in the woolen - mill for many yeal•s. Over twenty years ago his wife passed away since tlu.t time he had need° his home with his family, for eight years t a s with a daughter lit 6 SLon- don and the past three years with his daughter, Mrs. Jas Davis, town, He was a man of kindly disposition and well thought of by those with whom he labored. A very pleasant affair took place at the home of Jos. and Mrs. Bew- ley, 8th line, Morris, on Tuesday, it bein • thesecond anniversary . of o s gy their wedding, • Coupled with this, event was the fact that the fifty- second wedding ann+.ersary of the parents of Mrs, Bewley, Robt. and Airs. Ferris, Hullett, also fell on the 20th of the month and the se - v op- portunity was accepted as a fitting o n g P porttmity to celebrate bots., an- niversaries. The occasion was.;a acod with the immediate relatives of Mr. and Mra. Bewley, and a most enjoy- able njoy able time was spent by all. The ex- ceptional contrast of two years and fifty years of married life mark n very distinct linking up the past with the present. Mr. and Mrs. Fer- ris, who have now passed the fifty- second year of married life, still enjoy comparatively good health, and we feel sure that The Post be- .speaks the expressions df a host of neighbors and friends in extending' to them the heartiest congratula- tions and the sincere wiitlr that their ronrainng years may be many, each redolent in the best that life affords.
