I After a short illness, on Septem-
ber 25th, in Jamestown, at the hone
of his daughter Mr. .1. I,. Ira in,
Christian Eckmier oilseed away in
his 72nd year. He was born in
Perth County, in the township of
of Fullerton, where he lived until
he moved in Itis boyhood with his
parents, the late Daniel and blas.
Eckmier to Grey township, Lot 21

he was employed by the G. T. R.
and helped build the railway through
this section of the - country. Later,
he farmed on the Eckmier home-
stead and in 1917 he and Mrs. Eck-
mier moved to the village of Ethel.
He was married to Selina Mary
Lake in 1882 who predeceased him
its 1924. There were five children
born to this union. Mabel and Earl
deceased, Harris of llamilton, Wil-
fred of Stratford and Mrs. J. L.

was a staunch. Liberal in politics and

of the community. He served on the
Ethel- School Board for eighteen
years in succession, lHe also belong-
ed to the Canadian Order of Forest-
ers, in which he held many ofl'tces.
The funeral was held from his late
residence in Ethel e to Mount Pleas-
ant cemetery, and a large nuntli r of
relatives and friend, gathered to
pay their last respects to the de-
ceased. Rev. Mr, Taylor, of the
United Church preached an approp-
riate service and Ido Lorne Eck-
mier nephew of the deceased, Bang

bearers were George, Andrew and
Louis, brothers of the deceased and
John King and Isaac hake, twat bro-
thers-in-law, and his nephew George
Menzies, Floral tributes were beau-
