East and it was learned that it wen
a bank barn with the entire season's
crop of David Steeves, 16th con., of
Elmo. The barn, a structure 74 by 1
42 feet stood on a stone foundation. 1
It contained the crops off 100 acres

at between $7,000 and $8,000. There 1i

George Bancroft Has
Interesting New Role
I A man so busy that he gives orders
for stock buying and .telling while in
Ids bath, shouting his instruction in-
to the mouthpiece of a dictaphone;
such a part is that played by George
Bancroft in his newest starring pic-
ture for Paramount "The Wolf of
Wall Street." "The Wolf of Wall
Street" which was directed .by Row-
land V. Lee, presents Bancroft in a
roll absolutely new to him. Instead
of the rowdy Bull 'Weed of "Under-
world" the oil spattered driller of
"The Showdown" and the deep chest-
ed stoker of "The Docks of New
York," thee net' picture] presents'
Bancroft as a swaggering, devil -may
care brute of finance, who gives no
quarter and asks none.' The story
was written by Doris Anderson. The
supporting cast includes some of the
most able players under contract to
Paramount, among them Baclanova,
Nancy Carroll, Paul Lukas and Paul
Guertzman. The film opens et the
Grand on Friday evening.
The Canadian Press Service on
Tuesday night carried the news th t
Yater Bishop, egad 87. and a former
well-known rest ear of the 61 hem), of
Grey and alsn of Brusnele has been
lost in the atlas of Rriti h Columbia,
some time about Augnet 81.t, and h .a
not been heard of since that date.
A telegram that reached Brantford
to. Andrew Bishnp, a son, stated that ,
all hope had been given up for flue•
ing the aged: man, although every ef-
fort hod been made to learn of hie
whereabouts. Mr. Bishop was born 1
in
Wentworth On., but moved into
Gley 'l'nwnahip when qnite young.
He was considered vety active fnc
his age, and it is believed by his fam-
ily, of whorl there are six sons and
two daughters, that his love of trees
and waiSing brought him directly 10
his untimely end.
Having One to the West last year

Landing, many miles frnm the nearest'
village, he had become attached to
the place, and having a desire to re-

which spoke of his wa ,dewing nwpy

When Hiked if the rountiy sur-
rcunding Bishop's. Landing was of a
wild nature, it was said that while

The Fall Fair.
We trust our readers are not for-
getting the Brussels Fall Fair which
takes place, Oct. 3 and 4. The offi-
cers of the society have made very
complete and extensive 'preparations
for the show, and the enterprise of
the society should be rewarded by a
good attendance. It should be borne
in mind that the principal object
these fairs are meant to serve, is to
encourage the raising of better stock
or better farm produce, therefore if
you have ag ood animal or a fine
sample of roots or grain or fruit, or
vegetables, bring them out that they
may be compared with other speci-
mens. You may not get a prize, but
your interest in the exhibitions will
be increased, and you will learn some
thing by the compareion of your ex-
hibit with others. That is what the
fairs are for -to exchange ideas and
gain information.
