With both teams showing a lack of training and practically no team work, Winthrop foot ball team won the opening game on Victoria Park here last Wednesday night by a score of 1 to 0. Nicholson scored :ror the visitors on a pass from the side with 3 men in front of him. Combination seems to be c lost art, and high kick- ing and useless running were the big features of the game. Percy Steven- son, Ethel, had an easy time as re- feree. Brussels line up was: Goal, Hoover; backs, Allen and McIntyre; half hacks, Philps, Bowman and War- wick; forwarde, Dobson, Edgar, Cam- eron, Wettlaufer, Turvey. The next game Brussels team will have is on 1 ,June 12th, which will give them lots of time to get some practice, if the club wants the public's support in /titer° games. To Tour Northern Ontario. C. A. Robertson, M. P. P. will join a party of Liberal members of the Legislature, headed by W. E. N. Sin- clair, who left on Saturday on a tour of Northern Ontario. The party will go es, far west as Fort William and will visit all the principal centres in the north country. Struck Wrong Day. C., Corporal Harry ; Miner, who lost his life ie the late World War while rushing a machine gun nest. He was decorated for The Late Corp. Harry Miner V. C. conspicuous gallantry and outstand- ing valour while in action against enemy troops. Mrs. Miner, who lives at the corner of King and Barthe streets in North Chatham, has never missed a mem- orial service since the war. She was standing on the edge of the crowd at yesterday's service, when Rev. D. 14. Marshall saw her and she was in- vited to come forward to the mem- orial. Escorted to the base of the memorial she was greeted with ap- plause by the vast concourse of war veterans and citizens. Corp. Miner, V. World-famoue characters will be entertained in Brussels next week when "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" plays at the Grand theatre on Mon- day and Tuesday. Brussels will be host to Lorelei Lee, the champion gold digger of all time, to Dorothy, Lorelei's wise-eracking friend, and - to the dozen other characters which Anita Looe invented when she wrote her famous little satirical book. Paramount has made it into a screen comedy and it will be the feature at- traction at the Grand next week, Zane Grey's Story Coming to Grand, Jack Holt with 50 other motion pie ture actors, spent over two weeks "on location" he following the policy adopted by Paramount to film all Zane Grey stories on the exact, locale called for in the story. The company was headquartered at Tuba City, Ari- zona. Fans of both Zane Grey stor- ies and Jack Holt have long lauded this policy of Paramount. Zane Grey is noted for his love of the great out- doors and always writes his stories around some beautiful Western spot, Tbe story, which was filmed in and around Tuba City,. is "Sunset Pass" a recent work of Grey and the latest Paramount production starring the popular Jack Holt, It opens at the Grand on Friday.
