Lost First GSM°.
With both teams showing a lack
of training and practically no team
work, Winthrop foot ball team won
the opening game on Victoria Park
here last Wednesday night by a score
of 1 to 0. Nicholson scored :ror the
visitors on a pass from the side with
3 men in front of him. Combination
seems to be c lost art, and high kick-
ing and useless running were the big
features of the game. Percy Steven-
son, Ethel, had an easy time as re-
feree. Brussels line up was: Goal,
Hoover; backs, Allen and McIntyre;
half hacks, Philps, Bowman and War-
wick; forwarde, Dobson, Edgar, Cam-
eron, Wettlaufer, Turvey. The next
game Brussels team will have is on 1
,June 12th, which will give them lots
of time to get some practice, if the
club wants the public's support in
/titer° games.
