recently investigating the cause of
the fire which destroyed John
Marshall's, barn on Wednesday, Mar.
27th. The only conclusion that he
would give was that spontaneous
combustion caused the fire. Mr.
Marshall has not yet made up his
° mind to rebuild but if he is unable to
sell the farm by summer, will either
remodel his large driving shed or
erect a steel harp. About $2,000 in-
surance was carried. The fire broke
out in wet hay .Tuesday morning
serious damage was averted by the
quick action of removing the ]ray.
Mr. Marshall remained in the barn
all that night watching it. The next
morning the insurance inspector, of
Wroxeter, was there and after mak-
ing his inspection, the insurance man
was having dinner with Mr. Marshall,
when the barn was discovered in
flames, too late to save it. Teddy
Hughes, who has been with Mr. Mar-
shall all winter was returned to the
immigration office at Guelph on Sat-
