Edward James, a life-long resi-
dent of Gorriepassed away at hie
home on Tuesday morning, follow-
ing a three weeks' illness resulting
from a paralytic stroke.. Mr, James
was fifty-nine years of ago. He Is
survived byhis widow. He was a
member of the village board of
trustees and„ secretary of the local
C.O.F. lodge and a member of Ger-
rie United church. He owned the
farm adjoining the village, now
owned by W. Icing and retired from
farm life over ten years ago to take
up his residence in the village. He
was a man of fine eharaoter and was
very highly respected In this com-
munity. His funeral was held on
