more popular pastine than over. To
make many of these streams suitable,
fish ladders are arranged where there are
mill dams so that the fish eau go up

the matter of throwing rubbish from
mills, yards, Sc., iu the Dominion Home,
Hon. Mr. Foster, replying to Mr. Lander
kin, said that "the Act which compels
owners of saw mills to keep sawdust out
of streams, was in force in every county
in Ontario, but that mill•o30ners on the
Ottawa River were exempted from the
law." Itis the duty of Inspectors, ap-
pointed by the Government, to see tl'at
this law is respected. Judging free the
large number of fish caught in the ,Mait-

of trout captured in the create it is quite
evident that our river hi not only adapted
for fish breeding hut is well supplied with
hundreds of feeders in the creeks referred

We believe a Fish and Game Protective
