I.O.O.F.—The sixty-eighth anniversary of the Independent Order of Odafellows WAS celebrated in Brussels by a large number of the members of Western Star Lodge, No, 149, attending the morning service in Melville church. The pastor, Rev. Jno. Ross, B.A., preached a very interesting and practical discourse from the words found in Matt. 22nd chapter, 37th and 38th verses. He showed and proved that love to God implies (1) Rev- erence, (2) Confidence, and (3) Obedience. Love to our neighbor meant (1) Sympathy and (2) Practical Helpfulness. The rev. gentleman spoke very scathingly of senti- mental sympathy and said that oceans full of it were not worth a drop of genuine sympathy and helpfulness and concluded hie address by reference to the noble work done by the I.0.0.F Order in the performance of their duty. THE report of Dr. S. P. May, on the educational exhibit at the Colonial, is full of interest fur those who here our educational interests at heart. Some five and a half millions of people visited the exhibition, and the education court was daily crowded from the opening till the cloning of the exhibition. Judging by the many very flattering press noti- cee and reviews whish Dr. May appends to his report, the Provincial educational exhibit must have been a source of sur- prise end wonder to nersone visit6"a the exhibition; and dire A. mur!h sything else to convey to the soeptieal mind of the naturally conservative Briton jus conceptions el Canada's place among the nations. Ontario's educational exhibit not only rank, hist in the Dominion, but will bear comparison with that of many l'nropoan countries which are accustom- ed to boast of their educational system, ALL non that Learns.—Thursday, Fri- day and Sat,ritay of last 0\030 were the daye set apart by W. The millinery department has been changed from its old position in the Garfield House to a nicely arranged and commodious room top stairs and the very tasty display of hate, bonnets, ribbons, flowers, ornaments, lanes, Enke, satins, &o., proved quite conclusively that Mies Smith is quite capable of pleasing the ladies of this locality. There was a large attendance of visitors, who not only ad. mired the display but purchased the goods and Mr. Nightingale is well sale - fled with the prospects of a good season's same in this department. The bond was in attendance on Thursday and Saturday evenings a•d enlivened the prooeedinge with a number of choice selections.
