given tinder the auspices of the Ethel
Literary Society on Monday evening was
a very pleasant affair. Being the first
of the series with which it is proposed to
treat our town's folk, a little irregular-
ity in the carrying out of the program
has been pointed out, this it is promised
will be remedied in future. The pro-
gram consisted of some very enjoyable
readings, recitations and music, both
vocal and hns•rumental, and Was evident-
ly appreciated by the large and attentive
audience. The proceeds it is proposed to
lay by as the nucleus of a fund for the
purchase of a. standard circulating library.
The committee desire to express publicly
the thank of the Society to the members
of the Ethel brass band and other friends
who took part in the program for their
kindness in lending their assistance to-
wards making the evening's amusement
so interesting.

kind on the Port Dover and Georgian Bay
