The Executive Committee of the

has adopted the following mole -
tions :— l.het this Ocunotl desire

Orders in•Oouneil issued' by the
Pomi:lion Government relating to
Scott Act flues, appropriating the
same in a ivannez which not only
fails to facilitate but seriously inn
odes, the dee enforcement of the
law." The discussion on tine mo
tion showed that the members of
the Executive thought that the no-
tion of the Government at Ottawa
in this matter was worthy of severe
condemnation. The Executive, re-
cognizing the fact that Municipal
Councils could maternally retard or

prees upon tho friends of tomperanee
throughout the Province the absolute
necessity of making special efforts
in the forthcoming municipal oleo•
tione to secure the return of repro-
sentatives who are known fend
avowed prohibitionists, and who
will do all in their power to secure
progressive legislation on the tem-
perance question and the thorough
enforcement of the existing laws,"
Ata meeting of the Halton C1oen-
ty Council a comm17nieatian was
read from the clerk of the county of
Norfolk, asking the eo•operatiou of
the county council of Halton, 10
memorializing the Domiuion Gov-
ernment for the repeal of the Scott
Aat, and the eubetitutlon of a license
law discriminating in favor of wine
and beer. This communication was
accompanied by a copy of a resolu-
tion passed by the county council of
Norfolk. In reply thereto the ooun-
oil passed the following nuoomn-
promieiug resolution, which is con-
siderably In contrast to the one re-
quested by Norfolk's county clerk :
—"Mr, Warren moved, seconded by
Mr. McLeod, that the memorial of
the county of Norfolk bo returned
with the information tllttt this conn•
til don't approve of the course eng-
geeted in the memorial, namely,
that of petitioning the Government
to repeal the Scott Act, for the fol
