ler, son of inspector Miller, mot with a
peouliar accident. His axe was standing
by where he was helping saw with a cross-
cut saw. He left to get a blook when his

Jas, MoHardy narrowly escaped being
killed on Wednesday morning. He was
working on the railway bridge, at an ele-

some misstep hie feet slipped'off the pier
on which he was standing and he fell
heavily to the stoney groundbolowsprain-
ing an ankle and severely nutting himself
about the face. Although incapacitated
for work it is not expected that his injur-
lee will prove serious.

views of some of our villagers, who keep

ments so well refuted by Mr. Ross, of

to got his leg broken about two weeks ago.
He had driven to the depot in Listowel
for some freight, and his horses took
fright and ran away throwing him out of
the wagon. Happily a sister lived near
to whose residence ho was taken, and he
is doing as well as cion be expected.
Last Tuesday afternoon Angus La-
mont's team started from the saw mill,
and oalus clashing through the village.
Several unsnooessful attempts were made
to stop them but they ran with the wag-
on for about a mile and a half when one
of them fell. We understand that the
horses are considerably hurt.
R. W. Wright, of Ripley, has become a
resident of our village. He moved his
family here last week. He intends open-
ing a hatcher shop in a few days. He al-
so intends to run a commercial rig be-
tween the village and the station. This
will be a great convenience to oommeroial
travellers and others. We with him every

under the auspices of the Ethel Temper-
ance Eleotaral Union was held in the

dosa west, in the Conservative interest.
The Mitchell Advertiser says :—We

915,000 in the year 1890, and for 415,000

Messrs. Hesson, of Stratford, and Hess,
of Listowel, were nominated to bear the
banner for the Conservative party, in

St. Marys Methodist Ohttrcll has adopted

George Barr, Assistant Professor at
the Peabody Museum at Yale, was
knocked senseless by the explosion of au
ostrich egg. The eggs were shipped to
Yale from Gapetown, and owing to the
delay one of them fermented, generating
a gas which caused such an explosion
that the building was shalom.
