BEARS appear to be quite plentiful
in the south-east corner of Grey, for
as John Tait was driving along the
17th con., last Saturday, he noticed
a short distance ahead two dark ob•
jests, when upon coming up he dis-
covered they had life and proved to
be a she•bear and cub. On being
disturbed they turned tail and leaped
into the thicket. As Mr. Tait had
not a gaffing gun nor dog team at
command he decided not to pursue.

THE Monetary Times says :—Cir -
miler advertising is getting to be a
terrible nuisance to many firms.
About half of their mail is made up
of envelopes containing circulars.
The experienced eye can now detect
these as soon as seen, and they can
go into the waste basket unnoticed.
Business, :nen now•a•days cannot
spare the time to wade through long-
winded circulars. If you have any-
thing to sell say so by moans of a jud-
iciously worded and attractively dis•
played advertisement in a live news-
paper. It is cheaper and is more
likely to commend attention than the
most elaborate circular.
