Do not be deceived by any similiarity in the name,' ONTARIO INSTITUTION FOBTEE BLIND. —The Institutirn for the Blind at Brantford reopens for its next ses• sion on the.first of Sept., and as there are always a number of pupils graduating, at each vacation, appli• cations to she Principal for the ad. minion of newcomers are no,vdoubt- less In order. Considering the al- most utter helplessness and depend. eine of an uninstructed blind person in after life, no arguments ehouid be needed to induce all who have blind children under their care to take this opportunity of obtaining for them a thorough education, with instrio- tion according to"the pupil's capacity, in music, in industrial work, and, in fact, in everything by which the blind may be made useful and happy. When, too, it is remembered that board and education are provided for by a legislative grant and so met the friends of pupils not one cent., the last shadow of an excuse is removed for keeping a blind child at home in idleness and tilos losing a golden op- portunity for acquiring inestimable permanent benefits. Wo strongly ad• vise all who are interested in this matter to communicate at once with Principal Dymond who is always ready to give full information to 1n• gnirors. It may be as well to men- tion that the Institution is not for those who are totally blind only, but for all young persons resident in On- tario between seven and twontyonc years of age who, by reason of im- pared or deft/dive vision are unable to be educated at the public schools, Cool weather for August.. 11. THE Wingham Times man got a little "worked." last week and knocks us down with the following item :- "THE BRussnue POST of last week con- tains the following piece of concen- trated conceit :—"Twa POST was the only paper in the county that report- ed the celebration of the 1211` in North Huron, in full. The Wingham papers did not even catch on." Pro- bably Tan POST was so blinded with egotism that it did not notice the ex• tended report of the celebration in The Times of the same week•" We still stick to what we said and wish to remind the Times that they did not report a word of the six addresses made by the rev, gentlemen present On that day and consequently dldjnot give a report, in full. Tan Helena, Montane, Independent of July 24th, contains the following sketch of speoial interest to persons in this locality, as Mrs. Duncan MoCuaig, near Walton, is a sister to the person maned Dewar, and will share in the property :—In November, 1883, William A. Dewar, for many years a resident of Helena, and a man of some wealth, went east to spend the winter. On the 41b of January he was at the Astor House in New York. He had been drink- ing a little it is said, and had displayed his money, of which he bed about $800 on his person. On the evening of that day he left the Astor House, where he was boarding, to spend the evening out, and has never been heard of since by any of his friends. He disappeared as completely as though the earth had swallowed him up. There was no clue to work upon, no trail to fol. low, no connecting link between the time hs stepped out of the hotel and whatever fabs befell him afterwaads. The presump- tion is that he was foully dealt with in some of the many ways that recruit the New York morgues with unidentified bod- ies. Before the date named he had been in constant correspondence with Judge Davis, of this city, who was his partner in some real estate. Months passed with no sign, and Judge Davis went oast and tried to find him. There was no sign of him ex- cept hie name on the hotel register, and his baggage, which was brought bank to Helena. Other Montana people who tried to trace him were equally uusuooeseful, and ed were skilled detectives. He has never since boon heard from. Mr. Dewar was the owner of considerable property in Helena, situated chiefly in the Oentral Ad- dition, in the angle between Helena avenue and Ewing street, Part of the property was in his individual name and part was owned in partnership with Judge Davis, Bait was afterwards brought for the parti- tion of tbo property, and .t was so parti- tioned by the court. Dewar not appearing to pay his taxes and having no representa- tive to clo aO his property was gold ab the next delinquent tax sale. Of his individual property one lob was sold for sufficient to pay the taxes on the whole. Regarding the property formerly held in common by Davis and Dewar their seems to have been some misapprehension.. It appears to have been sold as the interest of Dewar in the property and in a lump instead of by single lots. The whole property, ,some 23 lots, was bought in by Judge Davis for about 1138. The time for the redemption of this tax title would have expired in a few days. About two or three weeks ago an attorney, W. B. Diokson, from Brussels, Ontario, ar- rived here in the interests of the heirs of W. A. Dewar—a sister who lives in Ontar- io which was Dewar's former Lome, He applied himself in endeavoring to obtain a redemption of the property held under the tax titlo—a task of some difficulty owing to the peculiar circumstances. Dewar had failed to pay his taxes and had authorized 'no ono to do it for him. While there was no reasonable doubt that he was dead, there was no proof of the fact and the law would not pregame his drat lentil seven years had elapsed from tho fi 10 of his dfe- e o. ranee. till there woultl seem to bo an equitable right on the part of Dewar's heirs to protect the interest that might ao- erne to them in the future by paying the taxes on the property in the interim. This right Mr. Dickson was able to demonstrate, and yesterday morning 110 paid the beak taxes and chargers and obtained the rotor - anon of the property to the title of William A. Dewar. Whether thie will end the mat- ter or whether further litigation will be the result, it ie impossible to say. The proper - • Owl lllfot'Innrlt.; yae astray regard. ing the removal; of D. D.
