STRUCK. Luooc.—Two years ago last
May, James Watt, of Brussels, pur•
chased from J. E. Smith, of Brandon,
Man., the north y of notion 18, town-
ship 11, range 28, for $1,200. Mr.
Watt has resided there since, having
hail good success in growing abund-

at substantial improvements from the
proceeds of his farm, and has now
disposed of said section, together
with some chattels for $8,200 cash,
Mr. Watt ie by no means inclined to
leave the Province, but is now sego•
hating with J. E. Smith to purchase
the east e. of section 1, township 10,
range 25, just one mile from tho C.P.
R. track, and four miles from the
flourishing village of Oak Lake. This
farm has fifty acres of excellent bush,
aleo,a find stream running through it
and is ono of the best >l sections in
the province for mixed farming. Mr.
Watt knows from experience whom
to go for a good bargain in farm lands,
Ser. Smith having purchased several
thousands of acres years ago, when
the first choice wets to be hail. Any
person wanting to purchase, rent, or
take a farm on shares cannot do bete

CHANGES IN BABE BALD. -Several
changes of an important nature have
boon made in the playing rules and
laws of the American Aseooiation.
The pitcher's box was lengthened one
foot toward second base, while it is re-
centred to place a stone slat one foot
wide norm's and in front of the pitch-
er's ° square, The batter's box is
changed from a square of three by
six feet to a square of four by six feet,
precisely as in the League, while the
square is removed six inches from the
home plate instead of twelve inches,
as formerly was the case. The num
ber of strike -outs made by a pitcher
is no longer to be included in the
general summary. Tho Association
is now given the power to suspend a
player for dishonorable or roprehen-
eible conduct. Any club that disbands
may hereafter retain its players if
ten days duo notice has been given
the association of the proposed die•
bandment. The home plate may be
made of either white rubber, atone or
iron. If a base runner interferes with
either a batted or thrown ball, he is
to be declared out. The new proviso
has regard to the thrown ball. The
fourth column of the score shall use a
record of haeme stolen, and shall in.
elude every base made by a player,
except on a battery error, or by the
aid of batting assist, baso on belie,
balks, or players being bit by the
pitcher, The batting assist column,
which was so vigorously puehecl by
several delegates, was exohidsd by the
un uimoue vote of the members.
