Society, on Tuesday evening the 28rd

At Alex. Forsyth's sale of farm

Out of 411 acre and a quarter crop he
cleaned up 104 bushels of oats and
the gram was so heavy the crop was
not on; clean then as the grain lag -
ed.
This townehip paid out $10 for
charity; $1711 for roads and bridged;
4176 for dreinage; $4096 for schools;
$752 for selariee, and $42 for print-
ing. during last, year. There is a
belittle° of $1424 on hand. The ac-
counts are certified to by Card-

Matthew Oughton, who was lard np
with a crushed hand, is able to be
about spin. His band ie so much
improved that he ia able to do a good
days work as of old.
The sale of thoro%bred and grade
cattle, well.bred horses, Pc., belong-
ing to the estate of the late Robert
Brown, on the 23rd inst. will be a
good opportunity for persons 'Nanking
good stook. •
The series of parties that have
been held throughout this vicinity of
late, known as the "old folk's parties"
are assuming such climeneions that
they will be handed down to fame—
we will not say for what. They scar-
cely fail, however, to afford us some
tableau vivants illustrative of "ye
olden times."
SUDDEN DEATH. —Last Wednesday
forenoon a middle aged man named
Edward Xribb. of this township,
was almost instantly killed, while
chopping in tho bush, near Book's
MIN mill, bs a falling limb. He was
struck on the top of the lead, tho
limb psnetrating his brain. A phy
sician was sent for but the man was
dead before he arrived. A wife and
large family of small ohildren are left
to mourn this sudden and unexpeeted
death. Funeral took place on Fri
day.
LINKED TOGORTMM.—Our prediction
about a wedding on the 9th con. was
verified on Wednesday of this week,
when H. Tindall, of Manitoba, son
to Robt. Tindal formerly of this town
ship, was united in marriage to Miss
Mary Habltirk, (laughter of Wm.
Habkirk. Rev, S. Jones, of Brussele,
tied the matrimonial kuot, Mise
Jeanet Habkirk and Wm. Tindall at
tended the bride and groom. The
wedding presents were handsome and
numerona. After a pleasant drive
the wedding party spout a very eu.
joyuble evening at Mr. Habltirk'r
idenee.
The Expositor of last week says:—
Thomas Davidson and fatnily, eleven
in all, from the township of Searbero
passed through Seaforth last Tuesday
on their -way to settle on that beauti-
ful farsituated on the banks of the
Maitland, near Oranbruok, ou the
12th concession of Grey, which Mr,
Davidson recently purchased from
ivir, Hawkshavr. Mr. Davidson is a
brother-in-law of Messrs. Johnstone,
Smillie and Matthew), who live on
the 17th concession of Grey. We
