effect that the petition in favor of
Benj. Simmons, the condemned mur-
derer, now lying in London jail, has
been considered by the Privy Coun-

Tuesday of next week, at Sunshine,
will no doubt attract a large crowd
if the weather is favorable.

quietly in Sunshine until the oboir
met in the church at half past two

ing for a while when two gentlemen
siogore, who aro neither blessed with
good tempers, began to have one of
their usual quatrots, They kept it
up for a short time 1111 one of them
having no more to say inside, wont
out, but was followed by the other.
The former challenged tbo latter to
fight but ho, nob being in the habit
of fighting, returned into the church
much to the delight of the young
ladies some of them being very much
interested in both parties. Wo hope
the young gentlemen will control
their tempers and go on as before as
it is a good choir and either of them
would be greatly missed.—A well
wisher of the choir.
Alex. Stewart, proprietor of the
Bolgravo hotel, met with a terrible
accident on Wednesday of last week,
which, it is feared, may be attended

rather wild animal, and had just
placed it in the stable. The animal
was almost frantic with excitement,
and when Mr. Stowart was attempt-
ing to pacify it, it knocked liim down

ed him in the back, and about the
legs ana groin in a terrible manner,
lacerating the unfortunate man hor-
ribly. It also trampled upon his
cheat and body. He woe removed to
the house and two doctors did all in
their power to relieve the poor man's
sufferinge. It is feared that lie has
received internal injuries which will
lay him up for some time.
