Vicente Geoss.—While F.S. Scott
and A. Hunter were waiting at Listo-
wel station for the morning train, last
Saturday, Mr. Scott rescued a woman
from instant death. A freight train
was on the switch and had been di-
vided so as to allow passengers to get
from the main traok to the station
platform. This lady had come on
the morning train from the north and
was crossing the switch between the
freight cars and not noticing that
they were being shunted together.
The oar struck her and knocked her
down and as she was going ander the
car Mr. Scott grabbed her and held
her up until another gentleman camp
to his assistance and she was got out
almost uninjured. k. S. received a
knock from the car, too, but was not
seriously hurt. The woman's valise
was emasbod to pieces. We wonder
if the railway company will show
their appreciatiou of Mr. Scott saving
them thousands of dollars, probably,
by giving him a ease on the road?

Good, at the show, of exhibiting

prizes seems to have been highly
satisfactory to the public, as by this
means they could examine the boots

of looking at boobs got up for prizes,
whop probably there would not bo
any more made like them for a whole
year. The result was that a large
number of people who never got
boots there before placed their orders
malting work for two more men.
