DECEASED.—WO regret to annuunce
the death of 'elm D. D. Wileon, of
Senforth. This sad event took place
last Saturday. The funeral was on
Monday afternoon. Mr. Wilson and
family can rest assured of the heart-
felt sympathy of their large circle of
friends in Brussels and locality.

well known New Garfield House.

tion with this house, and the pros-
pects for a lively fall trade are the

well known firm of W. A. & F. Trebil-
cock, of London, for three years ; and
this itself ie a guarantee that the lad-
ies of Brussels and Huron will be able

lor was elected let Vice President qf
the Provincial Association formed.
Mr. Taylor is well 'deserving of this
honor and will do credit to the posi-
tion, Wo expect to see A. M. fill a
high& position yet in the near future.

THE ladies of St. john's Church in-
tend having a Harvest Home and
Concert on the evening of Friday, the
25th inst., in the Town hall, Brussels.
T o hall will bo'decorated with print,
flowers vegetables and the different
kinds of grain. Tea will be served
at 5 o'clock, and oysters after the
concert. A largo amount of outside
talent as well as our own will take
part in tho concert and a good time
may be expected. Further particulars

contest for the Caledonian prize list
and a number of other prizes for girls
took place Friday afternoon last, on
Victoria Square. To give all an even

MILLINERY OPENING.—As will bo

for the opening of their millinery
show room on Thursday, Briday and
Saturday of next week, and following
clays. Mise Pretty is no novice at
the millinery, as will be seen by ref-
erence to the advt,, and Mr. Powell
counts on doing a sweeping trade this
fall and winter. He says lie will sell
city millinery at the usual low prices
of the Garfield House.
WEDDING.—Last Tuesday morning
the holy bonds of marriage were sol-
emnized, at the residence of Richard
Leatherdale, between John Landes.
