Wroxeter Fall Show.
The Wroxeter Fall Exhibition was
held in the aooiety's grounds, on Tuesday
and Wednesday, the 80th Sept. and the
let of Ootober. The weather was all
that 000ld be desired, and the show was
better this year than for many years.
The ladies' department was completely
filled up and the roots, vegetables and
grain were ahead of other years, both in
quantity and quality. The fruit, especi-
ally the apple department, was said to be
ahead of the Industrial at Toronto by
those who saw them both. Of horses
there were some very fine animals in all
the classes, while there were some very
fine cattle, yet the numbers were per.
haps less than solve other years. The
pigs and sheep were very good and the
number shown was up to the average.
1n all, the show was a complete eneeess,
although the Wingham show was en the

J. H. Thompson, our merchant and
posttnaster, is stocking up for the fall
and winter trade. He's quite a hustler.
Fine.—Last Sunday evening the large
water tank and engine house belonging
to the G. T. R. was destroyed by fire.
How the fire originated appears to be a
mystery as no work was done on Sunday.
It looks something like a fire bug. The
building will be rebuilt.

Miss Jennie McDougall has returned
home from Detroit where she has been
for some time past. Her many friends
will be pleased to have her in their midst

TEA MRRTtxn.—There will be a tea
meeting in the Orange Hall of No. 2,12,
in this place on Wednesday, November
5th. Tea will be served from 3:80 to 5
p. m. A program of music and speeches
will be parried out in St. George's church.

Lawrence Dobson is home from Mani-
toba after a five or six weeks stay. He
enjoyed his visit and saw a large number
of old friends and acquaintances. Mr.
Dobson is of the opinion that Manitoba
and the Northwest is the place for young
men willing to work.
Mrs. J. M. Davies hue returned from
an extended visit with friends at Wood-
stock and Brantford. She visited the
Robertson family, former residents of
Ethel, now residing at Burford, where
Mr. R. is keeping store, Alex, ie in a
Chicago wholesale house,
'1'. G. Ratcliffe has been re-engaged by
the Donegal public school board. Mr.
Ratcliffe will enter on his fifth year as
teacher on the 1st January, 1891, which
alone speaks for his popularity in the sec-
tion. Mr. Ratcliffe has an established
reputation as a first-class teacher.

Jas. Johnston, 9rd year student, of To-
ronto Medical College, left on Saturday
for New York to continue his studies in
Bellwood Hospital, of that city. We
wish him every success in his efforts to
thoroughly master the healing art.
The East Wawauosh Show has come
and gone, and for another year the mice
and bats have full possession of the
"Palade." It was an nnquallfied auccsss
in every particular. The day was a grand
one, the show, both inside and out, taking
no second place to any exhibition held
this year in the oonuty of Huron. Over
$80.00 was taken in at the gate.
We are pleased to notice by the Mail of
last week that J. 111. Godfrey, of Toronto
University, had the honor conferred up•
on him of being elected ,for the year '00
and '01 to fill the position of correspond-
ing secretary to the Young Mons' Libtral
Conservative Association, of Toronto. IIe
was one of the lucky three who obtained
their positions by acclamation, the others
having to undergo the ordeal of an elec.
tion on the 20th inst., which promises to
be a very hot one.

The Molesworth Plowing Match Aeeo.
citation will hold their annual plowing
match on the fast of Wm. Mitchell, lot
54, 2nd concession of Grey, on Friday,
17th inst., commencing at 9 a. m.
Thos. Baylis, the well known pig man,
attended the Walkerton, Fordwich and
Bluth Fall Shows and carried off a lot of
prizes. He also made a number of Bales.
Mr. Baylis says the hog business ie look-
ing up in a most satisfactory manner.
Harry Atwood la home from the North-
west after an absence of 10 months, He
is not very much taken with the country,
owing to the number of drawbacks in the
way of frost, drought, gophers, &o. He
thinks Ontario stands at the head yet
and he purposes residing here.
A partridge flew into David Holmes'
house, 10th con., recently and in its at-
tempt to regain its freedom went through
the window pane. The bird was some-
what stunned giving Mr. Holmes tune to
secure it for his dinner, thus balancing
the damage done to the window,

consummated a marriage contract with

OMT.—Last Tuesday even ing, about 5
o'clock, \Vm. Perris, 1211; con., was galled
home to his reward, The deceased was
born in Lanarkshire, Scotland, in 1815,
and was married to Mies Joan Brawn, of
5nmfriesahire, 1850, and came to Can-
ada in 1871. He settled en lot 10, con.
12 and contintied t0 reside there until his
death. Mr. Perrin had been a compara-
tively healthy man with the exception of
one attack of inflammation in mid-life.
During the past summer he was not very
well but he was only conflue'to hie room
for about a week previous to his decease.
Congestion of the longs appeared to bo
the cause of his death. The subject of
this notice wee a quiet, nnaeeuinimg man,
cot, istcnt and faithful in all things and
had boon a worthy member of the Prom
byterim; Church for many yeare. His
end was perfect peace. The family con•
erste of the widow, six sons and ono
slaughter who mourn the demise of a true
husband and indulgent father, The fun-
eral took place on 'Phersday afternoon of
