TIM NEW Mt haonrsT Cnunou,—Tho Standard gives the following description of the new brick ahuroh erected by the Methodist body in this plane :—The new church is a most handsome ono in the in- terior, and both from an outside and in- side point of view, it not only gives a beautiful and imposing appearance to our own little village, but would greatly credit many of our larger pities and towns. In addition to the large auditor. lam which is 00x88, and which has coin - enable seating oapacily for over 500 people, including a large gallery in the rear, is a commodious basement, of the same dime:miens, which will, in the manner in which it is laid out, seat about 175, and off which are three smaller rooms. Two of those are to be used as olass-rooms, for the Infant classes of the Sunday school, while the other is to be utilized as a library. The entire build. ing is heated by two immense furnaces, manufactured by a firm in Preston, the Clare Bros. & Co., and is illuminated by six chandeliers, extending from the ceil- ing which throw a most brilliant light down upon the congregation. One thing which is deserving of special mention is the Beate. It is a well-known fact that the seats in ohurchee are not always the most comfortable, but oomfort was ap- parently the chief study of the workmen who had control of this portion of the work. Each seat is also provided with elides which will be quite an acquisition in oats of the seating oapaoity failing to supply the demand. The trustees, find- ing themselves in suoh a good financial position, have called for tenders for the erection of a driving shed, to be 06 feat in length, to be eompleted before Christmas, for which a considerable sum has already been subscribed. The congregation of this church has been the recipient of a new and handsome olook, the gift of F. Metcalf, jeweller, of this village. ]31uevale. Wm. 5fo0raoken, who is engaged in teaching near Wiarton, was home last week, his school being closed on amount of diptheria and typhoid fever being pre- valent in the notion. Mr. Timmins, with his usual enter. prise and suooess, has already disposed of the "Ligbtle" farm, adjoining the station, which he purchased last spring gaining 01,000 on the transaction. Mrs. W. ld. Leech, of Gaderich, well- known and remembered in Blnevale, vis. ited her brother-in-law, Joseph Leeoh, lest week,. and Rev. George Leech, of Brooklyn, spent Sunday and Monday with his brothers. A great many were disappointed lost Saturday night because of the failure of Miller's lecture on "Picturesque Scenery in Sootland" in the Methodist church hero, as the leoturer failed to put in an appearance although it was extensively advertised, Wo aro glad to learn that Wm. Gray, our village tailor, who has been ailing for some time is recovering and is again able to occupy the bench as of yore, To be deprived of his serviots for any length of time would be a eaiamiby to the nom: munity as they are in such oonetant de. mand. The , grist -mill of our enterprising townsman, T. Nixon, has been doing an extraordinary largo business this fall. This IA no doubt due in a large measure to the superior skill displayed by Chas. Herbert, the head manager of the busi- tege and a general favorite in the nom. munity. As the Rev. I. B. Walwin was absent est Sabbath supplying the Methodist pulpit ft1 Listowel, Rev. A. Y..
