Qualm, sister to Mrs. Frank MoOraolton, of Morrie township, The ceremony was performed at the Reotory, Now Brighton, Leaden, by Rev, E. Davis, 13. D. Mr. and Mrs. Farrow have tho hearty congratulations of a largo circle of relatives itnd friends. They returned to their home in Brussels on Friday evening, J. Ziamune, who was arrested for theft had his preliminary trial on Thursday evening of last week, in the Council chamber. The ease was heard by Reeve Graham, and Jeno. McCrae, J. P'e. After hearing the evidence and the summing up of the same by W. M. Sinclair for the Plaintiffs and E. E. Wade for the prisoner, the magistrates decided to nom. mit Ziebrigg to stand his trial at Gode- rich. Constable Scott took him to the County town on Friday afternoon. NOBLE ORDER or snit GOOSE. -Same of our young men, not to be outdone by the ladies, have established a subordinate division of the above mentioned Order. The chief position, that of High Worthy Supreme Chief Gander, is occupied by a young gentleman'having a fondness for the fair sox, the other minor offices, as Ohief Baker, Chief Butler and Pursu- vient, being also well filled. There were two initiations at their last meeting. The grand hailing sign is as follnws:- Place the thutub in each Corner of the mouth, bringing the two first fingers to- gether opposite the bridge of the nose, forming an aroh or goosebone, the words a000mpanying this sign being "catch on." Sonia more initiations are on the tapas, STREET LAanr.-A sample street lamp is on exhibition et B. Gerry's store window similar to what is proposed to be Purchased by Brussels' Council. It is a plain, neat article and the good points about it are, it is guaranteed not to blow out or smoke ; it throws the light well to the ground owing to the bevelled glass; it is automatic and may be set to 8, 12 or 24 hours burning ; lamp uioeb oonveni• eutly lighted as door is adjustable, or out of the way in lighting, and bight is controlled from outside. This lamp is a new patent and is supposed to be ahead of its predecessors. The Council will, very probably, take aotlon nt their next meeting and secure enough of them to "lighten the darkness" of Brussels streets. Guerra Cann. -Tho annual meeting of the Brussels Curling Club was held in the Club Room on Wednesday evening of this week, when thefollowing officers were elected for the ourrent season :-Patron, F. C. Rogers; patroness, Mrs. F. 0. Rogers ; president, P. Scott ; vice- presi. dent, A. Veal ; representative members, Ono. Alexander and O. W. Shaw ; °hap - Iain, Rev. W. T. Oluff ; see.-treas., F. S. Scott ; council of management -Wm. Thompson, R. Leatherdale, S. W. Laird, A. Currie, Thos. Edgar and D. 0. Ross. The financial statement for last year was read by Acting -Secretary D. 0. Rose. The Club expeotk to join the Ontario Branch of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club and will no doubt give a good account of themselves. As sons as the rink is ready you may expeot to hear "Soap 'er up." ConnsRTxoxs.-In the prize list of the Brussels Show Richard Molise, of Mc- Killop, did not receive oredit for all the prizes taken. The mistake occurred by the accidental mixing of the show num. hers of Mr. McKee and Wm. Hhbkfrk, so that the latter got Credit for the prizes won by -the former. The follow- -ing prizes should have been credited to Mr. MoKee, vis -1st for heavy draught two.year-old gelding ; 1st for two-year- old carriage gelding ; let and 2nd for Durham Bull calves ; lst for six -roved barley; 1st for medium peas ; and for small peas ; 4th for 5 pounds table but- ter , let for white elephant potatoes ; let for Altringham carrots and 1st for six - rowed malting barley, W. R. Wilson should have been credited with let prize for his Root -nutter at the same show. The newspapers nearly always get the blame for these mistakes but the only wonder is that there ate not spores of blunders on account of the way some of the judge's books are kept. We are al- ways pleased to sexthings right, how- ever, and give Credit to whom" Credit is due. Rsoovennm.-Miss Dimsdale the even• gagat, is slowly recovering at her pleas- ant home at Belt Ewart, within fifty yards of Lake Simone. It will be re- membered that, while actively engaged in evangelistic work'in the town of Wel- land, she was attacked with inflamma. tion of the brain, For six weeks her life was in tbe.balauoe. The doctors, enter- tained no hopes of her recovery, but yet they were in almost Constant attendance, remaining at her bedside nearly all the time, night and day. Of course, her 1111- nese was brought on by over -work. Her loss would be a calamity.. Through her preaching thousands of persoge have given up sinful habits and lived better lives. For four or five years she has been working nearly all the time. Even when many others were having a vacs. tion, Mise Dimsdale and her sister were still conducting eervioee. Mies Dimsdale looks well, but is troubled occasionally with headaohe, and although she expects to commence preaching again at the be. ginning of the year, the doctors strongly urge her not to do any work of this kind for a year.
