goma Advocate, publiehecl at Thessalon,
says :-"Wm. Harris bus decided to put
in a carding mill in canneetion with the
grist mill. This will be a great advan-
tage to the people of Algoma, as in the
past they have been obliged to send their
wool to Owen Sound to be menufactur-
ed:" Mr. Harris was a former well
known resident of Brussels who went
north about 9 years ago.

class mechanic. He was a useful mem.
ber of the Methodist church, singing in
the choir and teaching in the Sunday
School. On Monday the pupils of his
class presenter) him with a concordance
and Mrs. Humphries a handsomely
bound volumn, Miss Annie Young read
a kindly worded address and Miss Telia
Mooney made the presentation. Mr.
Humphries is not a stranger in Wingham
es he spent four years there at one time.

EwAN vs. BEATTIE BROS.-This was an
action of replevin tried at our last Divi-
sion Court and brought by the plaintiff
for the return of n certain double nutter
which tho plaintiff alleged to be his pro-
perty by virtue of an exchange or trade
made with the defendante and which the
plaintiff couteuded was wrongfully taken
out of his possession by the defendants.
The defenoe was that the trade was not
made with the plaintiff at all but with
James Walker, a member of the late
firm of Walker & Humphries. Judg-
ment was reserved by His Elonor Judge
Doyle until the 12th inet, when it was
given in favor of the plaintiff with 91.00
damages for the wrongful taking of his
property, and costs. A certain resident
is said to have dropped a little money
bo had bet on the remit. This is not the
firer time he was "left" however.

built last year. We have not learned par-

Huron Farmers' Institute will be held at

Atkin eon, mother to Mrs. Ratcliffe, of
Brus sets, died at ber home, Richmond
Hill, at the advanced age of 96 years.
She was the mother of seven daughters
and one son. Mrs. W. A, Galbiek, of
