HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Brussels Post, 1893-9-22, Page 88 Honey and Education, A person may have a good education and yet be ignorant of Homo things that are in daily nee. For example how few, comparatively, know goodhoney from bad and what it is that makes the difference betweu the two. There may be two apiarists living within a atono.throw of • each other whose bees have gathered the honey from the same Rowers, and yet that from one apiary may be all that could be desired, pausing those who par. .take of it to surely dome back for more, while that from the °thee apiary ie not relished, is aiokoning, /lethally turning one against honey, for, it may be, all time to oolne. Gan you tell me bow this is and what makes the difference 2 It is simply this 1—One bee -keeper allows his honey to remain in the hive until it be- comes ripened or thickened, caused by the evaporation of water in it, but, of °puree, gets fess with more labor. On the other hand the other apiarist gets more honey with less trouble by extraot- ing it soon after being gathered, and as it consequence can afford t0 sell it Cheaper, but has an inferior artiole, being thin, in- variably poor flavored and unappetising. I do not olailn to have the only good honey but maintain there is none better and would ask you to buy only that which you know to be good. G. A.
