The County Jailor among other things,
reported: There 'aro ab present nine
prisoners confined in the jail. One of the
female prisoners is insane, and is 80
yeare of ago. There are seven male
prieonets. One, William Kelly, is in•
sane ; three are committal for larceny,
one being under sentence, two convicted
and awaiting sentence ; the others have
been committed as vagrants, viz., John
Morrow, Godericb, six months ; John
Durnion, Goderioh ; Robert Wallace,
Tuolteremith. Their respective ages aro
69, 70 and 74 ; two of them are totally
unfit to earn a living.
This report was referred to the County
Property Committee.
Letter from county solicitor and award
of arbitrators re. Morris township vs.
Huron Co., was read ; also reason from
3 adge Toms why he did not agree with
the other arbitrators, Messrs. Olegg and
Morton. The following correspondence
wilt be found on page 0.
Motion of Messrs. Either and McLean

The Committee appointed at the Janu-
ary,meeting to investigate the claim of
John Carpenter, of the Moltillop and
Logan boundary, for damage on account
of a stream having been diverted from

of and through Mr. Carpenter's farm,
reported that they had met a similar
committee from the (Jaunty of Perth,
and had agreed with Mr. Carpenter 00

Bend bridge on the 17th March last and

safe for heavy loads, and steps should be
taken to prevent partiea going on them
with loads of over one ton in weight, ex.

pairs have bean made but there is much
yet to be done this summer. A tying
wall at Manobosler bridge has been
oonsidorabty damaged and should bo re.
paired as soon as possible, while most of
the iron bridges should be painted.

that the council supplement the pay of

of the Battalion by giving a grant of 25
cents per day to mob man during his ten
days' drill in military camp. The Gov-
ernment give 50 cents and thio would
,take the pay 75 cents. This is done by
many other counties, such as Brnoe, Wel-
lington, Grey, &o, The application was
referred to the Lace: ive Committee.
An application, signed by the President
and Seerotory of the Goderioh Hortioul•
tctral Society, asking the county to make
a grant of $300 to assist in defraying the
cost of making a fruit exhibit from this
oounty at the World's Fair, Chioego, was
referred to the same committee.
A petition in reference to a school diff'•

referred to the Education Committee.
A deputation was heard in,request for
a grant to erect a foot bridge Oil the site
of whnt was known as the old Graham
bridge, near the town of Wingham. At
the last meeting of the Connell a grant
of $300 was givou for this purpose on
condition that the town Counoil of
Wingham would gtvo a bond absolving
the County from all further reeponsibil.

Motions were made to amend the Ex-
ecutive report so as bo recommend a
grant of $400 to the volunteers, also a
grant of $200, and last a grant of 10o. a
day for eaoh man, but eaoh amendment
in turn wee voted down by a majority of
17. An amendment was also made so as
to recommend the grant of $25 to eaoh of
the County Fanners' Institutes, but this
also was voted down. Another amend-
ment to the effect that no grant be given
fruit exhibit at Chicago, shared the same
fate as the other amendments, and the
report 0000 finally adopted without
amendment.

with municipalities that have heretofore
had bridges built and that bridges which
are now in existence be taken into con-

The Equalizabion Committee, after a
diligently week's work, handed in their re•
port. The only change recommended
from the past year was the redaction of
one dollar per acre in the egealized value
01 the real property of Hullett, The
Reeves of 'Osborne and Tnokeremith
made a vigorous effort to carry a motion
to,reduce these townships ono dollar per
acre, while the Reeves of Goderioh town•
ship were equally zealous in an effort to
get a similar reduction made in that
township, bat both failed and the report
was adopted without amendment.

pitation, the latter including rain and
snow as well, discloses the fact that both
April and May were colder on the aver.

church last Sabbath morning by the
incumbent, Rev. W. G. Reilly, to the

pointed out. A number of visiting
