The High School Board met on Thurs•

Galt foot bailers defeated our team in a
match last week.
On Thursday of last wools fire broke
ant in Glenn's restaurant about mid-
night. The building, which was frame,
was completely gutted, also John Ward's

A very sad and fatal accident occurred
at Soaforth last Monday morning. Wm.
Sproat was out driving with a young
horse, in tt road cart. When about three
miles from the town, it is supposed the
horse gob frightened at something on the
road, and bolted suddenly to the side,
striking a wheel of the cart against a
post of the fence. 113r. Sproat was thrown
Out and instantly killed. He was one of
the pioneer eebtlere of Lauren and was
ono of the most highly rospooted mem-
bers of the community. He woo about
35 years of ago and leaves a widow and
large family, His sad death has oast a
deep gloom over this plaoo.

J. W. Dickson has returned from
Uncle Sam's dominions, having disposed

was passed :—"Moved by Dr. Ooolee,

to Rev. W. 11. Harvey, B. A., of Guelph,
to become past mr of LIespeler church for
the ensuing Oooferenee term,' Mr.
Harvey has accepted the invitation sub-
ject to the approval of the stationing
committee.

as Wm, White and wife, of 2nd ow., wore
on their way to Brussels the front axle
of their buggy broke, frightening their
horse and omuiting 11 to run away. The
occupants of the rig were badly shapes
ep, Mrs. White's back being injured
while .510 White, who attempted to hold
on to the litres, was dragged along the
road and had au ugly gash out in his
head. He went to Brussels and bad it
sewed up. Jas. Cott convoyed Mrs.
White book to her home. The horse
was naught in MoEweu's hotel shed, not
much the Wot'se, but the buggy was in-
jured. In the moo into the shed Mr. Mo-
Ewen's buggy was run into and showed
evidences of the collision.
Mrs, Dobson is enjoying a visit in
Kincardine with Mrs. W. H. Willis.
The little son of Milton Ifugltes met
