Have passed away since I made Brussels the centre of my business career. Since then the changes that have taken place with Business men will show at a glance what men in the Mercantile Trade had to contend with, The past s.ven years, except the last two years, have been very trying on the circumstances of Farmers, Mechanics and Tradesmen of every class, and few men have been able to weather through the adversities of trade in the past unfavorable years. I must say that I have been one of the few Merchants who have succeeded in being able to weather the gale of ad- versity, and by INDUSTRY, ENERGY AND HONESTY Have built up one of the Best General Businesses in the County. . It has always been my aim to get goods t'or my Customers at the lowest possible coat and by being always in the Market prepared to take advan- tage of the stocks of goods that might be thrown on the market I have been able since coming to Brussels to give the people of this section of the Country over $Q,oe .. Worth of Dry Goods, Groceries, Roots & Shoes, .Readyrrmade Cloth- ing, Millinery, &c., &c., at LESAL ICES. With my ever increasing trade I have rented that large commodious store formerly occupied by F. C Rogers and I have removed my entire stock into that shop along with the stock that has been run by The Economical Dry Goods Syndicate for the past 30 days, and which I have owned, and by the time the balance of my Spring importations are in I will have one of the best assorted and cheapest General Stocks to be found outside of any Town or City in Ontario. I know that the corning Spring and Summer I can give you a better selection of goods and at lower prices than any of my opposition can do and it should be plainly seen by anybody with any degree of good judgment, that I can sell goods cheaper to you than any other merchant in Brussels when I make my purchases at from 45 to 75 cents on the dollar while other men pay regular prices. When making your inquiries as to the best place to deal ask my Customers who have dealt with me for the past year or more as to the manner in which I have used them in all their dealings with me, and do not take the word of other Merchants in this Town who would Blackmail me for always being able to sell goods cheaper than them A.n honest and upright deal done on business principles has always been my style and the future of my business will be dune on the same straight- forward principle. I want your trade this coming year if it is for cash, 1 want your trade if in exchange for Produce at cash vain°. I want your. trade if you require time on credit and providing you are reliable and honest No Deadbeats and Paupers are asked to deal with me as my margin of profit will not allow any loss with that class of trade, Paupers and Deadbeats hacl better deal with their own class in trade and let. Honesty and Industry help one another. In looking over my business for the past eight years I have found exceptional cases where customers have been dissatisfied with purchases made but which has not been caused by any misrepresentation on my part or any of my Employees, but due to lack of judgment on the part of the purchas- er in not buying the goods suitable for the purpose that they required it for, and who would not take my advice as to the quality and class of goods that I would recommend them to buy for the use that it would be required for by them. I will always be only too glad to make right any error that might take place on our part, and will apologise for mistakes that might he caused by negligence in any way that I night be responsible for, and if you want. more I cannot offer any more favorable inducements for your trade and patronage.
