ly meeting of the Baud of Hope was held
on Monday at the close of the school.

recitation, "The sleeping drunkard," by
Mary Williams, reading, "A looking -
glass for a drunkard," by Harry Mo-

Band of Hope. Next meeting will be
held Oct. 5th.
0. P. R. -The Guelph people appear to
want to know the inteations of the C. P.
R, in regard to extending the Guelph
Junction Railway from that town to
Goderioh. At a reeent meeting of the
Council of that city the following resolu-
eion was passed :-"That it be an in•

tatives of the Guelph Junotion Railroad

'nation of this council, when the 0. P.
Co, intend to extend the Guelph lunation

22nd, 1890, the three story frame build-
ing known as the American Hotel was

of Westminster, was rowed at the latter
plan on Monday and resulted in a
viotory for alciLean, but Hanhen's per.
formance was exceedingly good and
proves him to be in fine form. The
water was good and the winding course
was familiar to MaLean, who made the
most of his advantage. IVIaLean rowed
in a 20.1 0. shell -bottomed skiff, weighing
only 40 pounds. ne makes a speciality
of rowing in this kind of malt mid pre.
