To stir up a little interest in his rapidly waning sheet, which owes 11'0 existence to•dayto the generosity of Reformers in Brunets, according to the editor's own statement, he waxes eloquent over the "tereibte" violation of law, &c., &o. This is an old yarn that does duty path odically to please a few of the faithful, but as a rule has never figured when it eamo to the proper place, viz., the muni. cipal election contest. The same work, and more, was dose for years with it ma- jority of Conservatives at the Board, but it was peeled without comment, When a little sorutinizing, at another time, was done it was ascertained that a howl could not be well raised over the Reeve, se various Councillors, who were of another stripe of politics, were °flagrant violators of their oath, &o.,' too. If the editor of the Herald, or anybody else, wants to unseat the Reeve they needn't gabble over it for a month or so, but go right on and do the job. He could not keep his arms or logs still, He would throw Himself nearly off the bed and cry out sharply, but there was no snapping of teeth or frothing at the mouth. He was in great pain most of the time, and appeared to retain con- sciousness almost to the Last. He asked his mother a number of times in a most piteous tone if be was going to die. He also asked to be strapped down. He made frequent requests to be fanned, as he suffered intensely from the heat, At 9;45 he went into a spasm, and a few minutes later he was dead. Three doctors had given hem hypodermic in- jections of morphine, but the drug did not appear to affect him. The street in front of the Lowe residence was crowded with people all the morning.
