THE 330Y AND THE APPLES.
A little boy cat on a fence and gazed
O'erhead at a drooping limb,
And a yearning deep and intense Dame by
And took possession of him.
His little red feniares were covered with
dirt,
And his little brown lege were scratch.

There were awful rents in his little gray
shirt
And his little blue pante were patched.
From one little toe the nail had bean torn
And one little heel was sore ;
A ohild apparently more forlorn
I had never beheld before.
At length he stood on the topmost rail
And reaohed for that drooping limb,
And, catching a slender branch he palled
It slowly down to him.
He pulled it band.over-hancl, until
He could remit the verdant fruit ;
I shuddered to think of the fate in store
b'or that innocent little coot.
He sat on the rail and ate and ate ;
The apples were small and green ;
A clearer ease of defying Fate
No moftal hae ever men.
I sighed for him, and almoat wept
When I thought of the grief in store
For his tired mother n6 home—alas 1
He pulled ori a couple more 1
Then he slowly slid from the fence and
left ;
I said to myself :—"Good-bye I

"Good-bye," I sighed again, "I've learned
One lesson good and true ;

Nobody is watching you."

NEW ARGUMENT AGAINST 00Iie
SETS.
This
is the
shape of
o woman's waist
on whioh a ooraet tight
is laced. The ribs deformed
by being squeezed, press
on the lunge till they're
diseased. The heart
is jammed and
cannot pump,
the liver
is a
tor-
pid lump ;
the stomach
crushed can not
digest ; and in a mess
are all compressed. There-
fore this silly woman grows to
be a beautiful mass of woes,
but thinks she has a lovely
shape, though hideouts
as a crippled ape,
This is
a woman's
natural waist
cvhioh corset never
yet disgraced, Inside it
is a mine of health. Outside
of oharms it has a wealth.
It is a thing of beauty
true, and a sweet joy
forever new. It
needs no artful
padding vile
or bustle big to
give it "style.'
It's strong and solid
plump and sound, and
hard to get one arm
around. Alas ! if woman
only knew the miaohief that
One ooreets do, they'd let
Dame Nature have her
way, and never try her
waist to "stay."

It is a bad plan to gleefully tell of your

story as follows :--Like a great many
other Canadians, my husband and my.
self left Canada for the States, in the
hope that wo might better our condition,
and !matted in Lowell, Mass. About a
year ago I gave birth to a bright little
boy, but while yet on my sick bed I was
attaoked with ht grippe, which developed
into inflammation of the lungs. I had
the very best of care, and the best of
medical treatment, and although the in-
flammation left me I did not get better,
but continually grew weaker and weaker.

I could not sleep tit night, and I became
so nervous that the least nois3 would
make me tremble and cry. I meld not
eat and was reduced almost to a skeleton.
My whole body seemed reeked with pain
to euots an extent Nutt it is impossible for
me to describe it. I gob so low that the
doctor who was attending me lost hope,
but suggested calling in another doctor
for consultation. I begged them to give
mo something to deaden the terrible
pain I endured, but all things done for
me seemed unavailing. After the con-
sultation was ended my doctor said to
me, you are a great sufferer, but it will
not be for long. We have tried every-
thing ; wo can do no more. I had there-
fore to prepare myself for death, and
would have welcomed it as a relief to my
suffering, were it not for the thought of
leaving my husband and child. When
my husband heard what the doctors said,
he replied, then we will at once' go baolc
to C,tuada, and weak and suffering as I
was we returned to our old home.
Friends here urged that Dr. Williams'
Pink Pills be tried and my husband pro.
elated them. Atter taking them for some
weeks I rallied, and from that on I
constantly improved in health. I am
now entirely free from pain. I can eat
well and sleep well, and am almost as
strong as I ever was in my life, and this
received health and strength I owe to the
marvellous powers of Dr, Williams' Pink
Pills, and in gratitude I urge all sick
people to try them.
Dr. Williams' Pink Pills oreate new
blood, build up the nerves, and thus
drive disease from the system. In
hundreds of cases they have cured when
all other medioines had failed, thus
establishing the claim that they are a
marvel among the triumphs of modern
medical science. The genuine Pink
Pills are sold only in boxes, bearing the
fall trade mark, "Dr, William's Pink
Pills for Pale People." Protect your-
self from imposition by refusing any pill
that does not bear the registered trade
mark around the box.

Nervous debility is a common com-
plaint, especially among women. The
best medioai treatment fur this disorder
is a persistent course of Ayer's Sarenper•
