Tun attention of postmasters has been
called to the importance of eavery careful
stamping of registered letters. livery
registered letter should be stamped with
force three tines by the dispatching offi-
cer, once on the face and twioe on the
back, the impressions on the back being
placed across the edge of the flap. Much
trouble is still occasioned by the Myer -
fent stamping of ordinary letters, and
postmasters are strongly urged to give
the needful attention to this important
duty. It has been decided by the Post
office Department that the name and ed.
dress of the sender of a private post card
may appear on the face of address aide of
the card. The address may tate the
form of an ordinary business card, and
may be either printed or written.

WEDDING BELLS.-LHeneall ca,respon•
dent save: -"On Wednesday afternoon of
last week a very pleasing event took place
at the home of Robert Carlisle, sr., of Hay
township. We refer to the marriage of
his daughters, MISE Nellie E., and Miss
Jennie J., the former to G. A. Halliday,
general merchant, of Brussels, and the
latter to G. A. Found, hardware mar-
°bant, of Whitechurch. The marriage
ceremony, which made four joyous hearts
beat as doable one, was performed by
Rev. J. S. Henderson, of Carmel Presby-
terian
resbyterian church, and very shortly after•
wards the happy couples drove into the
village to catch the express trains. Mr.
and Mrs. Halliday tools a trip south,
while Mr. and Mrs. Found took the north
train for their home in Whitesburoh. A
very large number assembled at the depob
to see the young couple. We join the
many friends of the happy young temples
in wishing them long and continued hap.
piness through life." The many friends
of Air. and Mrs. Halliday in Brussels and
locality extend their heartiest congratu-
lations to them for a happy and prosper-
ous future. They arrived home on Fri-
day evening from their wedding trip and
have token up their residence on King

LAST Friday evening E. L. Dickinson,
Conservative candidate, held a political
meeting in Brussels Town Hall. There
was a large attendance as Sir James
Grant, of Ottawa, was announced to be
present. He did not show up, however,
owing to illness, it was stated. H. Den.
his took the chair and filled the position
satiefaoborily. The speakers were Post-
master Farrow ; 0.1'. Blair, as tepee -
senting Dr. McDonald ; and Mr. Dickin-
eon. Mr, Denman declined to speak
owing to his time being reduced. Mr.
Dickinson attempted to make capital of
an editorial in Tun PosT concerning the
markets but in hie eagerness to do so
showed his unmanliness and unfairness
by omitting to read the introduction or
paragraph following the report. All be
proved was that the editorial market did
not agree with the commercial report and
nobody, except Mr. Diokineon, expected
they would ae there was nearly a week's
time elapsed between them. Mr. Diokiu-
son also knew no one would have acbanoe
to reply. He did nob make anything oat
of his little quibble, however, as several
Conservatives told Tits POST since that
they were earprieed that Mr. Dickinson
would do as dirty a piece of misrepresen•
ration ae he did. Dr. MODoneld will
