The Presbytery of Maitland marked
the completion of the fiftieth year of
the Rev, A. Sutherland, of Ripley, in the
service of the Ministry, by a special meet-
ing in Knox ohuroh, Ripley, on Monday
evening, March 10th. There was a large
attendance of members, The ohuroh,
seating 500, was filled to overflowing,
many being present from neighboring
congregations to join in the rejoicing of
the occasion. The :following ministers
being present, were invited to sit as am -
responding members :—Measra. AltQuer.
ria, Fitzpatrick and McDonald, Presby-
tery of 13, ace ; Mr. Cooper, Listowel,
Preaby ery of Stratford ; Mr. Murray,
of St. Catherinea, Presbytery of H.,mil-
ton, and Mr. Franklin, of the Episcopal
church, Ripley. lir. Merrav, of Kin-
oardiue, in the name of the Pre-bytery,
read and presented lir. Sutherland with
an address suitably illuminated, and
ably supported it. Mr. McRae, of Cram
brook, al -o spoke eloquently in a similar
strain. Angus Martyn, one of the elders
in Knox ohuroh, Ripley, in the name of
the Session and congregation of Knox
church, rend to their venerable pastor, a
kindly and affectionately worded address,
