Tiro necessity for planing scales at the
station is the inconvenience to shippers
in driving stock from the town scales to
the railway, especially hogs in the Sum-
mer season, and the probability of said
shippers putting in a set if the town
didn't, and thereby practically shear the
town of the profits. Another point was
the fact that the small enclosure at the
ma•keb scales, if stook is bo be weighed,
would have to be gravelled to prevent the
making of the plot into a barnyard and
thereby endangering the public health in
the warm weather. The necessary out•
lay for gravel would go a good way to
ward paying for the new scales and re-
move what was likely to develop into a
nuisance from a Board of Health stand-
point. It is intended that the same
weighmaster will manage both scales and
in letting the privilege of weighing the
two will be considered as one,

Hutchinson, member of the firm of Ogil-
vie tb Hutchinson, and manager of the
Godericb branch of the business, died on
Sunday, after a lingering illness. De -
