his address on taking the chair was
splendid. Jas. Fax, the versatile oomio,
fully sustained his high reputation ; the
dancing of Master Bert. Alexander was
good, and the Scottish readings of Mr.
Blackwood were quite entertaining. The
local talent, which comprised Misses
Gibson, Miller and Smith, and Masers.
Gibson, fullysustainedtheir reputation
as musicians, Mies Brawn presided at
the piano, and did her part well. T.

rupt stook of A. Charlesworth & 0o., and

ing the services of Grenville P. Bleiser,
the wonderful and popular reader and

Walter Thomson, proprietor of the
Seaforth oatmeal mine and generally
known as "the oatmeal king," of alitoh-
rail, has purchased the Great Western
oatmeal mills at Woodstock, paying
therefor the sem of $11,800, and takes

Mr. French says that so many visitors
have been down to the House of Refuge
recently, that it takes fully five hours a
day showing them around, and it has
been deoided to keep the doors closed to
visitors until the inmates are in, as the.

Town Clerk Comte has an Irish frieze
overcoat which has seen active service
for 10 years, and it is yet "almost as
good as new." This coat certainly does

Mrs. M, Howe, who has been 111 for
some time, died on Monday night, 4th
inst. Heart failure was the immediate
cause of her death. The funeral took
