T. Hall, a graduate of Knox College,

examination was ordained to the ministry
of the Gospel and'induoted into the pas-
toral charge of the milted congregations
of Knox church, Belgrave, and Calvin
church, .East. Wawanosh. . Rev. James
Malcolm, presided ; Rev. It. S. G. An.
derson preached a suitable sermon; Rev.
A. Y. Hartley delivered an earnestcharge
to the minister and Rev. John Ross ad•
dressed practical words to the congrega-

evening.

The Salvation Army held a meeting in
the Methodist church on Tuesday even-
ing. Quite a number of soldiers were
present.

J. Pring, who was attending the Confer-
ence.

Civaig's spacious lawn was well filled with
people from far and near and the ladies
did everything possible to give them a
treat. The program was furnished by

The County Council last week passed
a resolution of sympathy to the father,
wife and family of the late Deputy Reeve
Walter Oliver.

Died.-On Friday, May 3rd, Jas. King.
the only brother of William King, 8th
con., Grey, passed away to his reward.
Relived at Netberstreet, Wiltshire, Eng. ;
was born on Sept. 24th, 1828, and
was consequently in his 69th year. The
canoe of his decease was a tumor in the
side. _Be was only confined to bed for 'a
few weeks. Deceased was a member of
the Methodist church for over 50 years.
His wife died about three years ago.
Four ohildren survive. The funeral took
plebe to Bromham cemetery on May 7th,
Mr. King was never in this country.

attending the annual meeting of the Con-
gregational Tinton of Ontario and Que.

Several parties were before the Mayor
this week for allowing their horses and
cattle bo run at Targe. A bice of $1 and

Patrick Wells, of Glenannan, hits pur-
chased five, claims in the Rainy River
gold mining district, and purposes going
there to work his claims. He is an old
miner.
Deputy Game Warden Patterson, of
town, has a number summoned before
the Mayor for shooting out of Beason,
tko. Oce or two of the cases have been
tried and fines imposed.
E. Taylor, the scissors and razor
grinder, was charged ltelore the Mayor,
by Chief Bullard, with violating the fire
Bylaw, and was fined $1 and costs and
ordered to remove his shop. He moved
to'Luoknow.
While bouee-oleaning, Mrs. Walby fell
off some boxes on which the was stand-
ing, breaking her thigh bone. Ab her
age, it is very doubtful if she will ever
recover. The town has seemed a nurse
for lien, but the physician attending her
advises that she: be taken to the hospital,
as she needs perfect quiet.
B. Willson, Manager of Bank of Ham-
ilton, arrived home from hie Western
trip. While away he visited parts of the
States of Minnesota, North and' South
Dakota, Wisconsin, and Manitoba and
the Northwest' Territories, He reports
