June 15th, next. We have not learned
what J. L. purposes doing. As be has
not disposed of his real estate, it is Pos-

sometime again in the future. Mr, Mad•
er and family have long been identified
with the best interests of the place and
their removal will be a disappointment to
their friends and a loss to the commun.

Our fire company was oub for practice
on Thursday evening of last week.
Thursday being Ascension day, divine
service was held in Trinity :Murch at
8 p. m.

Friday being the Queen's birthday
business in town will be suspended. The
most of our citizens intend celebrating at
other places.
Miss Maggie Kelly, of Blyth, daughter
of the late P. Melly, is now residing in
Windsor, where sbe has accepted a lucra-
tive position in the Post Office in that
city.

L V. Fear's drag store was broken into
on Friday of last week, when a quantity
of port wine and other varieties of liquor
were stolen.
One of the series of foot ball games for
the obampionship of Western Ontario
was played at Ingersoll, Saturday after-
noon between the Hurons, of Seaforth,
and the I. A. A. A., of Ingersoll. The
two teams played a splendid game, last-
ing an hour and a half, whioh resulted in
a tie. Score, 2 bo 2.
A meeting of the Huron Lacrosse Dis-
trict was held here, Saturday. Delegates
present :—J. Collison, Mitchell ; L. O.
Jackson, St. Macy's; Geo. Boyd, Sea -
forth. The following resolutions and
sobedule were adopted ;—tat. That the
series system be adopted. 2nd. That
each club put up a bona fide bond to the
amount of $15, to be forfeited to the club
that was defaulted to. 8rd. That each
club keep their own gate receipts and pay
their own expenses, except in connection
with the referee, which is to be paid
equally by the competing olabs. The
following official referees were appointed
R. Ryan, H. W. Thompson, Mitchell ;
W. (1 Mosorip, St. Mary's ; Dr. Mackay,
R. E. Jackson, Seaforth. The following
is the schedule:—St. Mary's at Seaforth
141h of June ; Mitchell at St. Mary's,
July 5th ; Mitchell at Seaforth, July 12 ;
Seaforth at St. Mary's, July 26 ; St.
Mary's at Mitchell, Angnst 8. It was a
great disappointment to the delegates
present that Clinton, Stratford and Gods.

as a last resort in their present difficul-
ties, and will withhold the presentation of
the budget for a few days longer in the

final statement is made public,
