TWENTY TIMES A DAY.
Twenty times a day, dear,
Twenty times a day,
Your mother thinks about you, •
At school or else at play.
She's buoy in the kitchen,
Or she's busy up the stair,
But like a song her heart within
Her love for you is there.
There's just a little thing, dear,
She wishes you would do.
I'll whisper, 'tis a secret,
Now mind, Pll toll it you.
Twenty times a day, dear,...
And more, I've heard you say,
"I'm coming in a minute,"
When you should at once obey.
At once, as soldiers, in an instant,
At the motion of command ;
At once, as soldiers seeing
The captain's warning hand,
Yon oouid make the mother happy
By minding is that way,
Twenty times a day, dear,
Twenty times a day.
THE LUNNON TWAG.
I've hearda;'renohman wag his tongue
Wi' unix din and rattle,
An', faith my vara lugs hue rung
Wi' listening tae his prattle ;'
But Frenoh is no the worst of a',
In point of noise an' clang, man ;
There's ane that beats it far awe',
And that's the Lannon twag, man.
Ye wane. think, within this land,
That folks would talk sae queerly,
Bat, sure as death, tae underetand
The callante beats me fairly.
An', faith, 'tis little gnde their sohules
Can teach them, en yell see, man,
For -wad ye credit it ?-the toles
Can scarcely follow me, man.
An' yet, tae Ria the dells their due,
(An' little praise they're worth, man)
They seem to ken, I konne boo,
That I come free the Nor-r-th, man!
They maun be clever, for ye ken
There's not tae tell the ohiefe, man
I'm just like a' the.ither men
That hail tree Galasheis mac,
But oh 1 I'm fain tae se again
The bonny hills an' heather 1
Twa days, and ue'er a drop o' rain-
Sio awfn' droughy weather 1
But eh 1 I Boot the Gala boye
Will laugh when haino I gang, man,
For o0 1 I'm awfn' feared my voice

The young man in the blur necktie and
seven freeltles on his nose ,?apked the
hotel register around and wr.he "R. L.
Nubbins and wife" on the pans with a
good deal of flourish, The clerk wheeled it
book again, and after taking in the in-
oorjption he looked at thenaw arrival,
"I presume" he said with a sly Wile.
"that you want the bridal chamber" ?
"I do it it don't oast any more than
any other," replied Me. Nubbins, not
at all dieturbed by the diaoovery of his
s0oret,
i '!But it Sods cost more," said the olerk,
somewhat astonished.
' What's the pride 7"
teen dollars a day."
"What priOe is the others 7"
"We oan give you a very good room
33 a day each."
"Does that include feed ?"
"Certainly ; this hotel le run on the
American plan."
"Well, give me one of them," said M.
Nubbins,
The clerk hesitated. Ho didn't want
to lose a customer for the bridal chamber.
"Are you sure that you prefer one of
the other rooms 7" he said coaxingly.
Mr. Nubbins was a bit nettled, t
"Say, young feller," he asked, "what
do you take me for anyway?"
"Um-er," eta mreared the olerk.
•" Well, I took you for a newly married
man, and they always select the bridal
chamber. It is muoh finer, you know."
"Well, that's all right," said Mr. Nub-
bins, tapping the counter with his finger.
"I may be fool enough to get married,
but you oan bet your year's wages that
it stops right there. Yon can give me
one of them $3 rooms." And for two or
three days Mr. and Mrs. Nibbins were
just as bright and happy and laughing as
if they had bought the entire hotel.
